Cubs re-signed Henry Blanco to a two-year contract with a mutual option for 2009.

Very good move here, he's one of the better back-ups in baseball. What makes this move great is the fact he's getting the same salary as last year, so it doesn't change a thing financially and he remains here for a while.:cool:

Blanco threw out 15 of 39 basestealers, and now has thrown out 41.4 percent in his career, the second-highest mark for active catchers in the Major Leagues behind Detroit's Ivan Rodriguez (44.3 percent).

I'm glad because Blanco is a very good back up catcher, because he can also play other infield positions. Plus this lets us focus on what we've all been talking about, PITCHING!

Blanco gets a $750,000 signing bonus, $1.4 million in 2007 and $2.8 million in 2008. The Cubs have a $3 million option for 2009 with a $300,000 buyout. The option would become guaranteed if he meets certain performance levels, and the price of the option could escalate to as high as $4.5 million.

This is beautiful he's actually going to make 1.1 million less this year then last. I highly doubt year 3 will kick in, man so far Hendry is in the zone this off-season. I'm feeling good about this off-season, the other day Hendry was described as a mad man and with energy like he had in year 1 as GM.

I agree guys. Great move. Henry is an excellent backup and if you can get him for that cheap it's a no-brainer. Hendry has had an awesome start to the offseason. Let's keep it up Jimbo! :D
