I won't be able to catch the whole thing, cause I'm goin to see my friend's band play at a show about 30 minutes away. It's supposed to be over at 8, but you never know with these things.

Recap of an awesome game:
CUBS 8, MARINERS 5
at Las Vegas
Friday, March 30
Cubs at the plate: Every starter except Cliff Floyd had an extra-base hit as part of the Cubs' 14-hit attack. Chicago scored at least one run in each of the first five innings, taking an 8-3 lead. Aramis Ramirez went 2-for-4, including his eighth home run of the spring. Michael Barrett also homered, and Jacque Jones had two hits, including a run-scoring double.
Mariners at the plate: Adrian Beltre and Jose Guillen each hit two-run homers. Richie Sexson added a pair of hits.
Cubs on the mound: Starter Ted Lilly worked the first four innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits, with no walks and one strikeout. Scott Eyre gave up a two-run homer in his only inning of work. Ryan Dempster pitched a 1-2-3 frame with a strikeout. Neal Cotts walked the first two batters he faced, but then he retired five straight. Rocky Cherry closed it with a scoreless ninth.
Mariners on the mound: Miguel Batista gave up four runs -- three earned -- on seven hits, with two walks and one strikeout in three innings. Closer J.J. Putz allowed a walk in one scoreless inning, but left-handed reliever George Sherrill was torched for a triple, homer and three runs in his only inning.
Spring records: Cubs 17-12-2; Mariners 13-20
Up next: The Cubs and Mariners will square off again on Saturday in Las Vegas. Jason Marquis will pitch for Chicago. First pitch is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. CT.
My take on it all? I CAN'T SLEEP! I have such an adrenaline rush going on right now! I took Monday afternoon off work to make sure I will get to watch opening day! (I may miss the first half an hour, but I got my good ole dvd recorder already programmed!) I don't even think I was this excited in 2004... my eyes were still puffy from the end of 2003! We got ourselves a team... and dependable backups! It is officially the Baseball Season Eve...and I am more excited than I ever have been on Christmas Eve!
