NAPLES, Fla. -- The Chicago teams swapped relievers Thursday, with the Cubs sending right-hander David Aardsma and Minor League left-hander Carlos Vasquez across town to the White Sox in exchange for left-hander Neal Cotts
I love this trade for two reasons during the sox 2005 championship season he pitched 60 innings with a 1.95 era, those of you seeing his 2006 era over 5 don't be too worried it is a bit misleading. He had a strong first half, going 1-2 with a 2.95 ERA. Cotts posted a 2.77 road ERA during the first half also. He had a horrible August and September if you take those 2 bad months at the end of the season out of the fold he almost went 2 years with his era in the high 2's to low 3's. The second thing I love about this deal is that he gives us 3 lefties now with Ohman, Cotts, and Eyre and I think this move was made to give us an extra arm since we may deal with Cleveland and give up a lefty and something else for Jake Westbrook.
