Seeing the Cubs make a move for Cotts today, got me thinking that Westbrook might be more of a possibility now. With that in mind, check this out over the last 3 years:
Westbrook: 44-33, 4.06 ERA, 10 CG, 625.1 IP, 52 HR, .274 AVG, 1.33 WHIP
Zito: 41-34, 4.05 ERA, 0 CG, 662.1 IP, 81 HR, .247 AVG, 1.33 WHIP
Now, Zito is a lefty and more of a strikeout pitcher than Westbrook, but look at these numbers! In roughly the same amount of games and IP, their numbers are very similar. Looking at this, and given the fact that they are only a year apart in age, why spend all the money on Zito if you can get Westbrook? And those 10 CG look really nice too! Just thought it was interesting.
