Z needs to get through this inning quickly. We're looking a bit shaky atm.

Big Z is having a great day. Some more offense to back him up would be nice.

It's so nice to see Aramis starting the season so hot when he usually doesn't get going until June or so.

Have to agree Scuba he has been doing real well. Derosa has opened some eyes early also. Great to see!!

Cubs get some offense for Big Z. I guess all I had to do was ask, huh? :p

I agree Sheff. DeRosa has been awesome so far as well. Now if Sori can just get going.

Fielder just rattled one off the right-center field wall for an RBI double. 5-2 now, bottom six. Hopefully Z will shake that off.

Good job by Big Z only giving up the one run.

End of 6th: Cubs 5, Brewers 2

Sounds good. We'll see what happens! ;)

Lee drives in Izzy! The offense is kicking in now!

Lee just singled home Izturis to make it 6-2.

Len's now mentioning some of the BAs, where the middle of the order is over .300 for the young season.

I agree. I don't usually expect much until June. This is very encouraging. :)

Wow, Jenkins just blasted one. Good thing the offense has helped out Big Z enough today.

VanMan

Z got out of the inning, mostly with some defensive help from Lee. He had to retreat deep along the foul line to get a Counsell hopper and then get it to Zambrano for the second out. Big Z was even pumped for a ground out!

Zambrano's day is done after seven innings. Eyre looks like he'll do the 8th.

VanMan
Apr 7th 2007, 2:11 pm
Lou just couldn't make a one-handed stab at a foul ball from DeRosa while in the dugout.

Apr 7th 2007, 2:14 pm
Oops, I was wrong. Howry will come on in the 8th.

Howry with a spotless 8th. Now, let's get a little State Farm Insurance runs. Then give it to Dempster.

Daryle Ward gets a lead-off single hitting for Howry.

As a cricket player, I can tell you that that expression makes very little sense (the individual bits of wood are called stumps, which I'm assuming is what you were referring to - unless you meant an annoying Star Wars character, which seems even less likely).

Saw what you meant though, was pretty funny....

Through the wickets is what we say when the ball goes through someone's legs, which I think is more referring to croquet rather than cricket.

Dempster retired the second out of the inning on a K.

Sheffield_&_Waveland

Dempster works a 1-2-3 ninth for a Cubs victory. Zambrano looked sharp first few innings. Howry looked good in relief. Cubs got great offense, everyone in starting line up had a hit except Blanco who did have an RBI sac fly.
Cubs win!!!
Cubs 6, Brewers 3
Cubs lead series 2-0, going for sweep tomorrow

Call it a cultural thing, but I would call those "hoops". However, I shall defer to you on account of your being American and probably knowing your expressions better than I do. :D

Cubs win, yeah!!

- For anyone who's interested in the cricket, Bangladesh are in the midst of thumping South Africa in the World Cup, which will be a huge upset...

You've a filthy mind but I'll let you off with it seeing as its your birthday. I'll amend it to thumping lest it sets anyone elses mind racing in that direction...

Holy crap it was cold up in Milwaukee. Thankfully they have a roof. Tailgating was an adventure. Always makes me laugh when you hear Brewer fans yelling out that the Cubs suck. Cheeseheads

I know what you mean. I'm stuck up here living with these people, being that I use to live in the Joliet area, but am in Fond du Lac, Wi. now. It's fun to go see the Cubs at Miller. More often than not, I always seem to run into a few people from the old stomping grounds.

Living in Wisconsin does have it's advantages though. I get to kick around the Packer fans during the football season.
