CUBS HOME OPENER!!

The Cubs finally bring the 2007 season to Wrigley! Disappointing loss yesterday, but what better way to bounce back than facing a team who is only 1-5.

Pitching Matchup:

Ted Lilly (1-0, 1.29 ERA)

vs.

Woody Williams (0-1, 5.79 ERA)

I actually had tickets to this game, but sold them. I know some of you are going to the game today, so hopefully the Cubs can come through with a victory. :D

Check out the parachutes flying into Wrigley! Pretty cool for the opener.

Apr 9th 2007, 1:19 pm
Wow, the field looks great. I guess they painted the scoreboard, which looks really good. The Under Armour ads don't look that bad. I thought it would be worse.

Hi Scuba,

Just checking to see what I missed besides the parachutes flying in. I couldn't get to the TV until the first pitch.

Uneventful 3rd inning as well. Lilly is pitching well though.

Hey ARam. Not too much else happened. Devin Hester through out the first pitch and Lovie Smith was given a photo commemorating the Bears 2007 season.

Nice catch by Barrett to get out of the top of the 4th, had to push the ump out of the way!

Apr 9th 2007, 2:33 pm
Yeah, what happens if he prevents Barrett from catching that. Is it umpire interference??

lol, I wish they could somehow get penalized for the stuff they do. The past few games I've been at, no matter who it is the ump at 3rd is always eating, and always ends up making at least 1 bad call.

Biggio scores on sac-fly by Berkman. 3-0.

scuba
Apr 9th 2007, 2:42 pm
Man, Biggio is really setting the table for them today. He scores again on a sac fly. Cubs offense needs to kick it into gear. I mean it is the home opener. Not much to cheer about so far.

Ok, did this not just happen to Big Z yesterday? Should have gotten a called third strike and two pitches later it ends up a two-run homer. The Cubs aren't getting the benefit of some calls early this season and it's biting them in the ***.

It's great he is patient, but he swung at ball 4. So in essence he shot himself in the foot. Why take a good ball to hit at strike 2, then swing at ball 4? I know with 2 strikes you have to protect the plate, but that ball 4 was up and in (not a great ball to handle).

But i still love Murton. His patients pays off more often than not.

That ump today sucked!!! Did anyone else notice all the questionable calls he had? Aramis was ripped on calls almost every at bat today. I know its early and the umps are human but the only thing that ump had was being consistently bad today.

Anyone watching Lou's post-game interview? I love how his answers are short and to the point. he's right, we just plain lost.

That ump today sucked!!! Did anyone else notice all the questionable calls he had? .

I only got to see from the 6th inning on, so i couldn't tell ya if the umps were crappy today. But from what i saw, he did an average job. That pitch from Howry right before he gave up the homer looked like a ball to me.

scuba
Apr 9th 2007, 4:34 pm
Yeah, Lou said it plain and simple: we just lost today. We played well enough to win, but the 'Stros got some timely hitting. How many homeruns did Everett have last year? Like maybe 5 or something? A little luck never hurts.
