» The Cubs are down 1–0 with two out in 9th to Montreal when Ron Santo singles and Johnny Callison homers for the 2–1 win. The Cubs will lose tomorrow then win 11 straight to take over 1st place. During the streak, however, they will suffer the loss of Randy Hundley when he is rammed at home by the Cards Carl Taylor. Hundley will tear his knee and will be out month, then two more, until July 10, with surgery.

1997 - The Cubs fall to 0-8, the worst start in the club's 122-year history, following a 1-0 loss to the Marlins at frigid Wrigley Field. Florida pitcher Alex Fernandez, making his first appearance in Chicago since he left the White Sox over the winter as a free agent, is two outs away from a no-hitter when pinch-hitter Dave Hansen legs out an infield hit off the pitcher's glove. Fernandez settles for the one-hitter.

I remember 1997, I was in basic training and took crap from my TIs everyday because the Cubs were 0 and this and 0 and that!
