Thomas to Jays affect Wells availability?

Frank Thomas just signed a two-year deal with the Blue Jays. I think this will make it impossible to get Vernon Wells from the Jays. It would have been very difficult anyway, but I don't see it happening before the trade deadline.

Yeah, czech, I don't think we really have a shot at Wells this year. I think the Jays are planning on keeping him for '07 and then seeing what they can get for him next offseason. That is why they signed Thomas, so when next offseason comes around they don't feel like they have to get as much back for Wells in a trade because they have Thomas now to pick up some of the slack offensively. Wells sure would look awesome in CF for us though. :cool:

Unless they have there socks knocked off, I don't think the Jays deal Wells unless they are out of it near the deadline and they feel they can't afford to resign him.
