Buehrle throws a no hitter

CHICAGO (AP) -- Mark Buehrle pitched the first no-hitter of the season Tuesday night -- and he was nearly perfect, too.

The Chicago White Sox left-hander faced the minimum 27 batters in a 6-0 victory over the Texas Rangers, picking off the only hitter he walked and throwing his team's first no-hitter since 1991.

Working quickly and efficiently in a dominant performance, Buehrle allowed only one baserunner. He walked Sammy Sosa with one out in the fifth inning, then promptly picked him off first base.



I turned on the game after they announced he had a no no going through 8. As much as I hate the White Sox.... Congrats to Mark Buehrle.... gotta respect a no no.

He was very very very close to a perfect game, with Sammy as the only baserunner due to a walk, which Buehrle quickly turned around and picked him off.

There were like 5 kids at school wearing sox shirts...some fans. Hopefully, Rich Hill can do the same tonight...that would be amazing!

Yea, last night after the game, I went to the Bricks and Ivy league to see who got all the points from him, and I realized no one had him. And sorry, but I do fantasy baseball to win, and you can't consider a no-hitter a fluke (even if it is a Sux player) so I had to pick him up. Got no points for him now, but next week hopefully he'll produce. Whoever I dropped him for wasn't producing anyways so no biggie either way really.
