The Cubs mount another extraordinary comeback as they fight back from a 12-6 hole to bead the Cardinals 16-12. Ivan DeJesus hits for the cycle, but catcher Barry Foote pulls a George Mitterwald to steal the show. Having already knocked in three runs with a single and a double, Foote hits a solo home run in the eighth innin off Roy Thomas to tie the game. Then wins it in the bottom of the ninth with a two out grand slam off Mark Littell. And, in another eerie similarity to Mr. April, George Mitterwald, Foote manages to finish the season with nearly identical numbers: six home runs and 28 RBIs.
