My mom just told me a minute ago. So sad to see him die like that. I don't care if he's a Cardinal, my heart goes out to the whole organization, and I hope they can recover from it.

This puts the whole rivalry in perspective doesn't it?

You're right Cubsfan23, it puts the whole thing into perspective. It's very sad. My thoughts and prayers will go out today for his family, the Cards fans and the entire Cardinals organization. :(

As much as I dispise anything and everything that has to do with St. Louis this is a sad thing. My heart goes out to his family, loved ones, Card fans, players, and the organization as a whole.

It was Daryl Kyle, and he died five years ago due to a heart attack in his sleep prior to the Saturday Fox game in Wrigley in June or July.

even though we are taught as cubs fans to hate/dislike the cardinals. NO team should have to go through this 2x ever in their history like the cards the last 6 yrs i believe... SAD DAY IN BASEBALL......

It's so sad to know that you can be pitching one day and dead the next. I wish I would've known earlier, I would've prayed for his family in church. Now I kinda feel bad that we won yesterday...

This was pretty shocking, I feel terrible for the Cards organization and their fans.

My dad was at that game. He called us and asked us what was going on and to turn on the tv because they weren't saying anything at Wrigley. He called us back after Girardi went out to make the announcement about his death.

My heart goes out to his family and the teammates, fans, and friends. What a sad, sad story.

I second everything you guys have said. Sad day indeed. Pretty weird how this has happened to the Cards 2 times in the last 5 years, and both times they were scheduled to play the Cubs. Although we have a fierce rivalry with them, it seems almost fitting that we would be there for the Cards during these horrible tragedies. My prayers are with Josh's family and may he rest in peace and enjoy the new journey that awaits him. :(

I'm with you on that. I also gained alot of respect for Tony LaRussa on Friday for ripping the media for the bad press about the Cubs.

Even though they are my most hated team, I gotta say they handle this kinda stuff with true class. The newspaper hack job that LaRussa was angry over, Marquis getting his ring and now the worse thing that could happen. However, let us not forget that this April is the deadliest month for OUR soldiers this year. I'm not trying to downplay this young guys death but were losing people just like him by the dozens in Iraq and NO ONE SEEMS TO NOTICE! I'm make a pledge not to get political (War is a extension of politics no matter what anyone says) as to not make anyone mad at me (plenty already I'm sure!) so this is one of those rare events that can bring a light to this war. In this modern age of forgetting things a few days after the media decides to stop talking about them, its hard for some people to stop watching junk like american idol and other "Brain-Drain TV" but lets remember our fathers, sons, mothers and daughters are over in some hell hole fighting for each other and every one of us, the spoiled, over entertained people of the United States of America. Maybe Don Imus mis-speaking and Alec Baldwin verbally abusing a spoiled child are more important to some but not to me.

Agree or not, this is what I believe at heart and will not apologize for anything I said.
