[QUOTE]Lou Piniella said Sunday's scheduled starter, Rich Hill, would pitch Monday night in Pittsburgh, followed by Ted Lilly and Jason Marquis.

Guzman, who was with the team but not on the roster, will return to Triple-A Iowa to make his next start Tuesday.

With a day off Thursday, the Cubs will come back with Carlos Zambrano on Friday against Washington at Wrigley Field, followed by Hill again Saturday against the Nationals.

"We've got two options," Piniella said. "Pitch [Guzman] on Sunday against the Nationals at home or pitch him against the Phillies to start a road trip [May 7] on the East Coast. We're probably leaning toward the former."

If Guzman pitches Sunday, Piniella will be able to insert a right-hander between his two lefties, Hill and Lilly, a move he said was going to happen eventually.
QUOTE]

It's sad, after the whole tragedy sunk in, this is something that crossed my mind at work today. This will be a good thing, as reports have it, Guzman didn't have his best stuff in the last two starts in Triple A Iowa, so hopefully, this will help him out. It also buys a little time for Lou to determine who will get sent down when Guzman comes up.

Theres really nothing I (or anyone from the outside) can say to make sense of this. I really dislike the Cardinals but this is bad. The way they first handled Marquis World Series ring and now with the death of Hancock really shows how classy they are. Really, they may be the classiest organization in all of sports (outside of the Packers).

Yea, and LaRussa standing up for the Cubs showed some class too.

How did they handle it?

How did they handle it?

Prior to Saturday's game, they held a little ceremony for Marquis, and the entire Cardinal team stood by as the Cardinal's handed Marquis his ring, then they congratulated him with handshakes and hugs.

I have to say that I gained a good deal of respect for the Cards organization after they way they handled everything this weekend.

As far as Guzman goes, this may help give us a little time to figure out the outfield situation.

I agree. The Cards are the classiest team in baseball, the events over the weekend proved that beyond any shadow of a doubt.
