A come back win. I thought it was over after Z gave up 4 in the first. But this team fought back for a good win (albeit against a team they shoud easily beat).
Also good to see Howry get out of the bases loaded jam.

You are quite right, and this team is actually doing many things right. They have for a while now.
Also important that this come-from-behind win (is Carlos trying to whip this team into shape by making them work harder?) was in Wrigley !
This 3 game set is a perfect opportunity to 1) establish the confidence to win at Wrigley (having a relatively easy opponent never hurts), and 2) go over .500 for the season .

I'm not feeling as hopeless anymore when the Cubs are down.... before, once the opponenet took the lead, I felt as if the game were over. Now, they have proved in a couple of games that they CAN come from behind, and in grand fashion! Last place to second in about a week? Awesome. Now, we need the rest of the NL to help us with the Brewers. Not to mention, the rest of the NL Central is right there behind us, so the Cubs HAVE to be consistent with this kind of play.

Let's hope they can put together a nice string of wins now. This is the time to do it. They need to start taking advantage of their schedule. If they do all that, everything will take care of itself. I'm not really about the Brewers and their 5-game lead in first place. I think they are playing way over their heads right now. they will eventually come back down to earth.

I have to agree with Madden King. Although the Brew Crew have the best record in the N.L. right now, they don't quite have the talent as the Cubs, Cardinals or Astros, which are all the class of the division heading into the season. Eventually, the cream will rise to the top, and we'll see the Cubs, Cards and Astros fighting for the division crown, but we might still see the Brewers and Reds in the fight at least through August. The Pirates, I think, will find themselves in last place.

I am hoping the Cards stay in last all season. Do not count the Brewers out they have more talent then you give them credit for. Estrada gives them credibilty behind the plate. Fielder is coming into his own. Hall is a great offensive threat (a liabilty in center?). Hardy is good when not hurt. Their pitching staff is good with Shetts, Capauno, Bush and Suppan. The back end of their pen is good. What will kill them is the middle relief and lack of depth.

Very well said, the Brewers middle relief is a joke. I watch then quite a bit and as Madden said, they are playing WAY over their heads right now. Its true they have little veteran depth, maybe none.

Dont' forget about Vargas. He has looked good in every start he has had, besides against us.

I agree with most of what you say about the Brewers. I'd be surprised if they're anywhere other than 1st or 2nd in the division at the end of the season - shocked if they were lower than 3rd (this is in reference to post you quoted). I'm not really sure Estrada is that much of a selling point, but I agree with the rest. They'll cool down, but not as much as people seem to believe.

I had the Brewers pegged as my sleeper (aka '06 Tigers) of this year. I see a tight race through out the division this year. But ultimately I believe it will come down to the Brewers and Cubs. I see the Astros 3rd we known their history of great second halves. The Reds, Cards and the Pirates will battle for the bottom 3 positions. I would have had the Cards in the race for the division, but I think that they have too many problems right now. The death of Hancock hurt them in the pen and most importantly emotionally. Then Carpenter on the shelf til August (possibly the season if they are out of the playoff hunt) really hurt them.
Ultimately I believe we can catch the Brewers but it will take a while, maybe the last day of the season like the Twins did last year.

That's about what I figure too.
