Note the game time says 6:10pm, but the last two nights, they have started a few minutes early, so be sure to tune in before then!
Rich Hill will take the mound Wednesday in Game 3 of the Cubs' four-game series at Shea Stadium against the New York Mets.
In his last start Friday against Philadelphia, Hill retired 11 of the first 13 batters he faced. He needed only six pitches to get through the third inning. But the lefty got into a mess in the fourth when he walked Aaron Rowand to start the inning and hit Chase Utley on an 0-2 pitch to set up Pat Burrell. Burrell belted a three-run homer and later added a two-run shot.
"That was pretty much it right there, just a few pitches got away from me and I put guys on; it was an unfortunate outcome," Hill said after the game. "The first [Burrell homer], I thought was a pretty good pitch. The second one, I just got over the plate.
"This was definitely one of those games you move on from," he said. "It's part of the game. The good thing is you get to play again tomorrow and start all over again."
Hill entered that game ranked second in the National League with a 1.73 ERA, and it zoomed to 2.51. This month, he's 1-1 with a 4.91 ERA in two starts.
Cubs manager Lou Piniella said there is a "50-50 chance" that Derrek Lee, the National League's leading hitter, would rejoin the team Wednesday. Lee has neck spasms and had returned to Chicago to be examined Monday.
Pitching matchup
CHC: LHP Rich Hill (4-2, 2.51 ERA)
Hill was rocked in his last start, giving up five runs over five innings in a 7-2 loss to Philadelphia. Home or away, it doesn't seem to matter to the lefty. On the road this year, Hill is 2-1 with a 2.67 ERA, and he's 2-1 with a 2.29 ERA at Wrigley Field.
NYM: RHP Jorge Sosa (2-0, 2.77 ERA)
Sosa essentially reprised his only other performance this season -- against the D-Backs on May 5 -- in beating the Brewers last Friday. The 30-year-old threw 6 2/3 innings, giving up four hits and three walks while striking out four. Two of his sliders wound up in the seats, but those were the only homers he's given up as El Duque's understudy.
Player to watch
Aramis Ramirez has a career .306 average at Shea Stadium, with five homers and 16 RBIs. He's also struck out 16 times.

Pregame show Lou Pinella show:
Lou was impressed by Big Z... good sinker, breaking ball had depth to it, went after the hitters... "vintage power pitcher"...need to build on it and get him on a roll....
Ram's grand slam settled everyone down..."this is what had been lacking here"... kept adding on runs... "if we could just tack on runs, it would make it so much easier for the bullpen to pitch"... EVERYONE started to relax after that. Lou said there shouldn't be pressure "you're still gonna get a paycheck, your wife is still gonna love you, it's not the end of the world if you don't get a hit".... "this should be fun to go out there and compete against a pitcher with men on base"....
We need to have a couple of really nice games with good starting pitcher, timely hitting....
Fontenot.... got his first basehit in a hurry "That little guy just drove the ball... it was quite impressive"... "you like his approach, he hits to all parts of the field"..."he has a nice short swing, it's compact"..."this may be our left handed utility infielder, we are going to need to get back to 12 pitchers, so I don't know what we're going to have to do, but I like this kid"
Same lineup as yesterday with the exception of Hill pitching...he's not going to mess with something that worked.
"We operated on all cylinders last night and came out with a win"
Sorry if this was choppy, I was trying to type it all as he was saying it.

Hey Lisa, I was just listening to WGN radio... Kaplan was talking to Corey Provice at Shea...and they are tossing an idea that IF they try to get the game in tonight, we may see Neal Cotts go out there in case it gets cut short due to the weather... and then they would save Hill for either tomorrow or the White Sox series this weekend...but that is a BIG IF... as it is still raining very hard in New York.

That is interesting. On Chicago Tribune Live they said he should stay at 1 because he strikes out too much and another guy said that made no sense, which is true. I say try him at 2 a couple games and then move him to 5 and if that doesn't work, keep going down. We could even out him in the 9th spot and move the pitcher up if its Marquis or Zambrano who can hit. I guess we have to wait and see. The weather's turning colder now, I hope they don't go back into their cold weather slumps.

Sosa is being pulled from the game. He is getting a huge ovation and pats on the back for one-hitting the Cubs.

I'm so tired of listening to these Mets announcers, they're so obnoxious! I'll be so glad to hear Len and Bob. They have so much more class than these idiots.

Howry vs Reyes.... ummm, yep... Howry loses the battle as he gives up a base hit to Reyes.

Reyes lifted for a pinch runner, as Reyes limped to first. Easley up to bat. Howry loses this battle too and gives us ANOTHER base hit.

Well, bottom line... Cubs lost... a lot to a little. The offense was dead. The bullpen is deader. And we're back to being consistently inconsistent. Mets 8 Cubs 1
