2-10 in 1 run games. More bad baserunning tonight with Murton running on the lineout to right. We did steal 2 bases tonight though. I zrturis hitting into DP with a 3-1 count absolutely killed us. It was a borderline pitch. Marshall, Derosa great games. Marshall though got the raw deal. Lou should have got him out after 1 batter reached. If it would have been a lefty batting then he should have left him in. 20-24- I dont care what the Brewers are doing. We have to get to .500 before we start looking at them. This is a very underacheiving club right now. Ive seen enough of some of these guys. Bring Pie back up and let him play. He showed some fire when he was up.

This is not an underachieving club, this is a badly assembled ballclub.

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me, fool me three times... eh forget it.

Agreed...the Cubs may have the worst defensive OF in MLB history...plus they are weak at 2nd and catcher.

This team has had pretty much ZERO timely hitting this year...and that is what wins you 1 run games.

Lou has done a pretty average to poor job...I'm having a hard time seeing the difference from Krusty.

This team has little to no heart and no true clubhouse leaders...passion is hard to detect...this team is full of a bunch of losers...notice how they creep up to .500 and then collectively sigh and go back under several games...it has happened time and again over the last few years...they don't think they can win and it translates on the field.

I have been a Cubs fan since I was a kid in the mid 70's and I'm getting sick of the lame 'team' that is always put together.

Well, welcome to the board, Missing23. As you'll see, this is a great place to vent, which will come in handy tonight.

Yeah, some old friends of mine from back in the Chicago area kick around emails all the time about the Cubs...we are diehard fans and the same crap year in and year out is driving us nuts...for example, how can you explain how badly the Cubs play at Wrigley? The players are weak mentally for sure. How can Fat Burrito Boy Z take the mound in a big game at home against their biggest rival in the Sox and throw a stink bomb? How come Lou keeps letting the idiot prance around and point to the sky? Especially after innings in which he gave up dingers?

Hi there, missing23..welcome aboard...

A few more "why's" to ponder about tonights game....

WHY did Izturis swing at the 3-1 pitch with the bases loaded and 1 out? I smelled a double play brewing on that one.

WHY did Jones come up as the pinch hitter with two outs in the ninth? You had Theriot, Ward, heck, I'd rather see Big Z or Marquis out there than Jones.

WHY is Jones still on the Cubs team??????

WHY did Theriot not play tonight? He is the "sparkplug"...granted, DeRosa and Izturis provided what little "offense" the Cubs had tonight....but Theriot needs to be in that lineup.

WHY are our 1-2-3 hitters swinging at the first pitch...EVERY TIME? Work the count. Get the pitcher's count up... make him work. They have at LEAST three pitches to work with, WHY the first pitch every time????

WHY did Soriano wait until Pagan had two strikes on him to steal???? That very easily could have been a strike him out throw him out double play.

WHY weren't more of our baserunners stealing on a team who is HORRIBLE at holding runners on....

I could go on, but my brain is fried tonight. I am beyond disappointed. Not at the fact they lost....had they played better, it wouldn't be so "sucky" right now, but the offense is DEAD!

Another chance at victory gone... Poor baserunning.... DP on a 3-1 count. Things that don't show up on the average stat sheet beat us daily. This team needs baserunning drills and extra batting practice in a serious way.

I've read in a couple places that Jones isn't being shopped, Murton is... There was an article out of Baltimore suggesting Murton for Todd Williams. We need something, but it's not Todd Williams...

This is a very astute, accurate and comprehensive observation. It gets to the real failure of this organization over the years: Loser Mentality ! This was first understood by Dallas Green - COMPLETELY ! The true - ultimate - changes that must occur for this team and organization to ever win and win repeatedly are MENTAL.

At the highest level this game (and many others) is decided between the ears !
