As well as we have played, the Cardinals have not lost many games in the standings to us. They are 3 games behind us and 7.5 behind the Brewers. They have had a season to forget so far, hampered by a ton of injuries especially to their pitching staff. Carpenter and Mulder are both expected to return. I dont think we can count them out just yet.

I was thinking about making a thread earlier about this. They have quietly made a move in the standings. But even with the return of Carpenter and Mulder I don't think they can match the Cubs/Brewers. They don't have enough offense just in Pujols....Rolen hasn't looked the same.

Don't forget about Chris Duncan... he is either tied or one behind Pujols in homers.
So Duncan is the 2nd best offensive threat on the Redbirds... but, I don't think it matters Cardinals don't have what it takes this year.

As much as i hate to say this.....you can never underestimate those bastards. The tandem of Larussa and Jocketty, in recent years have been comparable to that of Cox and Shuerholtz (not sure how to spell it).

Let's hope you're right. :(

I agree with Ivy Killa on this one. They won the world series last year after only winning 83 games during the regular season. They know how to play the game. Did anyone notice Marquis tonight tagging up from 1st base on a ball hit to deep CF? Believe me he did not learn that from the Cubs.
