Not sure if this will happen, but the Cubs shouldn't let him go. Remember how long it took for them to find somebody to replace Santo? Not sure we need to go through that all over again.

yeah, Ramirez is a great talent, just seems like he doesn't show up the first 2-3 months of the year. would have helped if Lee wouldn't have gotten hurt, but the Cubs really need some pitching. all i know is they need to land a big name or two this offseason. guess we'll just have to wait and see.
nice site by the way.

They need to keep Aramis, grab another big stick, then concentrate on starting pitching.
Just my opinion...:D

I'm with you webgem. Another big stick would be nice, but we definitely have to do something with the starting pitching. Not sure Zito or Schmidt want to leave the west coast though as far as big name pitchers go.

Cubbies could possibly look at guys via trade but I'm sure who could be available.
I read this morning that the Cubs are interested in Lilly.

I can't blame Aram if he wants to leave. It will be interesting to see what happens. If he leaves, it is not the end of the world. It could open up some money to spend on starting pitching.

I like Aramis as much as any cub fan, but if 11 million a yeasr isnt enough, then it sounds like hes wanting out of chicago.

Not really. He wants what every other MLB player wants, to make as much as he can. I don't understand any part of the argument that Aramis isn't worth 15 mil a year. Why would you not spend it on him, but then go out & spend it on another big bat to replace his production? At least with Ramirez, you know what you've got.
Hendry knows this, & won't let him get to outright free agency. I expect him to be signed by Friday.

I agree Supertack. There aren't many guys out there who can give you the production he does, play third, and not make many errors. Who are you going to replace him with anyway???

Well, I'm hearing that it looks as though the Cubs and Aramis will have a contract done by Saturday. Man, I hope so. Now if we could somehow get Matsuzaka!

Hmm, that's been the speculation for a couple weeks now. The Daily Herald reported today that a 5 year, 75 million dollar offer was on the table, & they were waiting for Armais' reply. That offer is 10 mil more that Derick Lee got, & it's believed that the Cubs are probably gonna make a last ditch "take it or leave it" offer by Saturday, cause they will not get into a bidding war over Aramis. Either way, we'll know by Saturday. Aramis will either take the Cubs offer, or he'll become an UFA & be in a different uniform next year.

I think he is long gone. One of the 2nd best is Huff. He won't come cheap, and he won't come to the North side. Maybe take a look at Feliz or even Aaron Boone. I look for them to move Istur to 3B and bite the bullett. Either Ronny will start or Make a push for Lugo or trade for Tejada. I hope they will offer Prior and another for Tejada.
