View Full Version : Dumbest things I have heard at Wrigley

I have been to Wrigley quite a bit this summer...and just when I think I have heard it all from some of the people around me...someone blows me out of the water. Now, I understand that many people don't have the knowledge and history I have due to the fact that I crave the information, but come on some of this stuff is just plain appaling. There are Cub fans out there who would do anything to have the tickets that are wasted on these people.

1. Is that the scoreboard?

2. Isn't Soriano that really good baseball player? (when they announced him coming up to bat)

3. Wow, they really don't like that guy....is that Bonds? (As Lou came out to argue a close call and the crowd yelled "LoOOOOOOUUUUUU"

4. lady: "Who's that up to bat?"
me: Alfanso Soriano
Lady: "Is he any good?"
Me: Better than that beer you're drinking (needless to say, she did't sit by us for long)

5. I don't really like baseball, but coming here is pretty cool

6. Was that a home run? (on a base on balls......????)

7. to my 7 year old son..."What's that song they make us sing?"
My son: "Take me out to the ballgame"
the lady: "When do they sing it?"
My son: in between the top and bottom of the 7th inning
The lady: when is that?
My son just looks at her.
The Lady: Do you know all of the words....
My son shaking his head at her and mumbles "well, yeah..."
The lady: Don't feel bad, me neither.

Wow, I can't remember ever being stuck with people like that. Unfortunatly, I haven't been to a game since opening day, but I had somewhat intelligent people around me. The guy next to me j had been sitting there since the 80's, so it was nice hearing him talk. And the guys behind us were pretty good, they asked me if I remembered who hit that home run onto a rooftop across the street years ago. I forgot who it was though. I only had a problem with the people sitting right next to my dad. They were barely paying attention tot her game, and were more worried about their fur coats. But at least they didn't say anything dumb.

That was some pretty ignorant statements. I have to add, not nearly as dumb as that, but the booing I heard last night for Kendall made me sick. On top of that, the booing for Bonds. The same people booing had their cameras out taking pictures too.

I was laughing at that today... there were guys in the front row that would jeer loudly enough that it got Bond's attention...then they would snap a picture.

But, unfortuanately, the bandwagon is heading down clark and addison and a bunch of really dumb people are jumping on. I don't mind bandwagon fans, as long as they can deserve the term "fan". But to ask if that is a scoreboard, or ask if Alfanso Soriano was any good, I kept thinking, yep, this is a Bill Engvall moment...HERE'S YOUR FREAKING SIGN!

the rooftop shot was by Glen ALLEN Hill - I remember he use to swing and his top button of his jersey would pop off.

Glenallen is one name. I remember seeing footage of that prodigious shot.

Yea, I sorta have mixed emotions about Barry. Though I am pretty sure he juiced in the day, a lot of people did, and no one said anything about it. And even if he did, it takes some skill to be able to hit a ball like that so many times. But all I know is that if I were at Wrigley and I caught his homer today, I still would have thrown it back, that's how much I love my Cubbies!

Yea he probably juiced, but he still hits balls as far if not farther than anyone. I couldnt believe what I saw today. Im glad hes out of town now. I swear I used to think he had sold his soul or something. He hits balls down the RF line that most LHANDERS hook foul- his stay straight. I saw him turn on an inside fastball from Smoltz one time and he hit it a mile. The pitch was clocked at 97. I can understand why Showalter walked him with the bases juiced that one year. Regardless of what people think, by the numbers- he is still the most feared hitter in the game. He showed it today.

I hate all the players that juiced. But all anyone ever talks about is the hitters. They had to hit the pitches.....THAT WERE JUICED. Why nobody talks about pitchers juicing is absurd. I think some matchups were on an even playing field while others were unfair.....It's a tough subject.
