Well played Webgem, love the disco stuff
More of a classics man myself, so these sound really obvious
Pink Floyd
Clapton
Beatles - I'm listening to their new release now
Beach Boys
Who (getting into them recently, saw them during the summer, amazing!)Clash
Also
Cake
Flaming Lips
Isobel Campbell - has possibly the softest voice in the world
Eminem - if I'm feeling white and middle class
There's a lot of good new Scottish/British stuff emerging too, if people want to broaden their horizons:
Franz Ferdinand (who believe did ok in the US?)
KT Tunstall
The Long Blondes
Razorlight
The Fratellis
The Pipettes
Anyone else thing we should get a music board in Everything Else?

I like all kinds of music. My tastes involve a wide range of styles and sounds. I don't limit myself to just one or two genres. There is soo much great music out there. People just need to open up their ears and minds and listen.
But some of my favorites...
No.1 band> Widespread Panic. I have been a fan since 1992. I haven't been counting but i would guess i have seen them about 50 times.
Others i love> Rush, Jurassic 5, Steely Dan, Sublime, The Ocean Blue, and the list goes on and on but i will stop there.;)

I actually grew up outside of Augusta and used to see the Panic play in bars in the early 90's. I guess I've seen them somewhere aroound 50 times as well. However, I was way more into Phish and saw them over 100 times throughout the 90's.

I like quality jam bands. Phish was/is cool. I have many Phish cd's. The Hampton Coliseum is a 35-40 minute ride from my house. Phish released a show from there. Pretty cool.
Panic just strikes some heavy cords deep in my soul somewhere.

I was at every show Phish ever played at the "Spaceship" including the ones they released. My favorite was the first one there in '95 when they first did the rotation jam. Nothing will ever top my favorite show of all time... New Year's 95 at MSG. EPIC!!!

kind of a neat song: taxi driver by gym class heroes. I've listened to it a rediculous amount of times.. they probably say 20 different band names in the lyrics.. I like trying to catch them all.. every time I listen to it, I catch a different one.

I love any kind of music... my friends used to laugh because I had The Best of Beethoven, Metallica, Garth Brooks, and New Kids on the Block cds all on one page in my cd binder! I will listen to just about anything except the really, really hard metal rock and obscene rap. I really enjoy country and eighties rock/pop. I guess what I listen to all depends on my mood of the moment! I had to buy a back up hard drive to put my music on because it was taking up so much room on my pc!

Dream Theater's sound guy is actually a huge Cubs fan. I've chatted with him a couple of times on the cubs.com board. Didn't get a chance to meet him last time they were in town (March 06 I think), but he sent me an autographed press photo.
He also does sound for bands like Queens of the Stone Age and some other acts.

I love Dream Theater. One of the most underrated bands IMO. My friends got to go see them with Megadeth at Gigantour a few years ago. And a few months later, Megadeth released a DVD with a buncha stuff, and it had some recordings from the same one my friends were at, and you can actually see one of my friends. I would of gone, but it was already sold out, and I didn't have enough money to get a ticket on Ebay.

Yea I too missed Gigantour because I was out of town.
I just found out that the G3 tour this year includes Petrucci and is opening in Pheonix ,March 14, when I will be down there for Cubs ST. I'm definitely going to try and catch the show.

"El Cielo" is such a mind-blowing album, probably in my top 5 all-time, I think it could stand right up there with the early Genesis (w/Gabriel) and King Crimson records.

I actually only have one album by them. I have "Catch Without Arms". I actually recently heard about them. Over the summer I got a sampler CD ata show, and "Bug Eyes" was on there. I really dug that song, so I went out and got the CD. I do need to get "El Cielo" as well as their live album...
Early Genesis... Good stuff...

Yea, "El Cielo" is that good, alot less poppy than "Catch Without Arms" (not that poppy is bad), alot of little instrumental interludes. A wide variety of sounds, pretty cool stuff. Alot of it actually translated really well on the live album.
I'm definitely going to catch them live next time I get a chance.
