Who would be next on your list to be Cubs for 2007? Please make your choices realistic...obviously, not Derek Jeter, Ryan Howard, etc.

Mine...
1. Dontrelle Willis LHP
2. Jake Westbrook RHP
3. Jack Wilson SS

1. Lilly
2. Lugo
3. Meche

I am not sure how realistic Willis is though, because the Marlins are not going to let him go, he is on of thier 2 main untouchables to go along with all of thier 10 game winning rookies.

agree with WEBGEM.
And I highly doubt that Dontrelle will leave florida. The asking price would be rather high as he is still young and has un believeable talent

Westbrook and/or Schmidt. We need another starter.

I would have to say

1. Vincente Padilla
2. Julio Lugo
3. Jeff Suppan (sorry, the guy really impressed me in the playoffs and he pitches well enough to win 15 games a year.)

I also would love to have Dontrelle, but I am not so sure I would love to give up Pie for him and we really have nothing else worth giving up. Put Lugo in CF for half a season or so and then turn over the reigns to Pie. If we can maybe give Izturis enough time to make himself worthy to someone to trade, I wouldn't mind doing that.

In all honesty though, I feel like I change my mind about certain guys every other day after I read some story about whoever. I really don't know ****! I am really looking forward to when it is all said and done and we can quit the speculation and start really talking baseball!

Pie hasn't proved anything. All he has proved is that he can struggle, and struggle often and well at the minor league level. If you can trade him to get D-Train.. do it! I'm not entirely sure why everyone is so convinced we need lugo either.. my top 3 we need to get:1. Gil Meche 2. Jeff Suppan and 3. Westbrook. I don't think we need any more firepower.. gimme pitching, and give me a championship.

1. Schmidt
2. Jennings/ Westbrook
3. Lugo

I feel that we really need to address the pitching staff. If we get more hitting, great but pitching is a must.

Why is everyone so high on Ted Lilly? His career ERA is 4.60 and his day ERA is almost 6.00. That is pretty scary for Wrigley...

I know that D Train is probably untouchable but we got DLee from the Marlins. I bet that they would take Guzman, Weurtz and Pie for him. As for Pie, we have been hearing about him for three years now. If he was going to make it to the show, it would be next year. I don't think there are plans for that to happen.

Another guy that would look good in a Cubs uni is Aaron Rowand. He would be a great addition to the outfield and we could turn up the heat on Sox fans. Most of them are not real happy about him going in the trade for Thome.

Lugo would be nice but only a .277 BA last year. Defense a plus but don't overpay.
