And this is the reason why Zambrano will NOT win the Cy Young! SEVEN WALKS in less that 5 innings!!! You cannot do that against a team like the Mets and expect to win!! Not to mention he will be lucky to get past the fifth with his pitch count...

Its not just the 7 walks, dont get me wrong I love the guy, but his emotions just get the best of him. I mean he has had a couple of strikes not go his way, but for the most part the umpire has been pretty good. Meanwhile this 41???? year old EL Duque is carving us up.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that the walks are bad. But, when you can not allow a single one of those seven walks to cross the plate that's some pretty good pitching. He did struggle w/ his command, but he wasn't missing by a lot. If the cubs could have put some runs up early, he could easily be in line for the win pitching the way he did today.
I also love the fact that he is emotional out there. I know a lot of don't care for that, but I think it helps him. Sometimes they may get the best of him, but he is still leading the NL in wins right now, so something must be working. I'm not saying he's going to win the Cy Young this year, but he should definately be considered.

I agree- he is a horse and can walk people and get away with it.

I promise his luck with these walks will run out. It only takes one pitch to make you pay for 2 walks. It's a moot point because Dumpster ****ed it up for everybody once again! What is it with him and the ****ing Mets?

Yeah no kidding. The walks are killing us. I remember Lou saying in spring training that when you get the hitter 0-2 to not waste a pitch go after them. Thats the problem IMO, Z gets ahead of himself by not throwing quality pitches. This is the major problem with Z, he needs to throw quality strikes.

The problem with the walks is not the runs, but the fact that he did not even get to the 6th inning. That leaves it up to our already depleted bullpen. He needed to step up today big time and failed. Seriously, if Zambrano can go to the 7th or 8th as we needed him today, then you have Marmol finish it out or something assuming we could have scored before then. When your pitcher can barely pitch the minimum for the win, it makes for a whole different ball game. The walks hurt and that is the bottom line. It may not have hurt us on the scoreboard initially but it killed the bullpen a little more than it needed and now we have to deal with the aftermath of the Dempster meltdown...

He walked Delgado 3 times. That guy doesn't walk a whole lot. He is a power pitcher and shouldn't be afraid to go after him. It's like he is trying to pitch like Greg Maddux with a 95 mph fastball. He needs to quit nibbling and blow it past them.
