For now. It's the bottom of the 6th and they're losing 2 to 6! Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Well, we'd better hope the Rox can hold on, because the Astros just won in 10 innings, 2-1.

It's the nature of the Beast unfortuantely. This team always gets our hopes up then rips out our heart with a guilded knife.

It isn't over, but the end of the season is fast approaching. I guess i am hangin' on, but it won't be long til the season comes to an abrupt end.

Thats harsh there Drock, but you do have a point. We are blowing it right now.

Hold the phone.....Yes we are going through a rough stretch but so are the Brewers and they have been for a while. So how exactly are we blowing it. Yes we have oppurtunities to gain a lead but games don't always go our way.

Its not about the Brewers- its about us. We were finally there and since we caught them- we have lost 4 of 5.

Look, guys, we're in the midst of the Dog Days of Summer. Everyone's getting tired, worn out, bumped, bruised, etc. We just have to tough this next month out and hope we can retake the division lead. If not, then at least the wild card. Like I said before, we're in the 18th mile of the marathon right now. I don't know any marathon courses, but we're getting to a hilly section right now.

Its not about games not going our way at all its the fact of how they are losing. You can put this in the column with the Cubs beating themselves. I have no problem with taking a loss that a team downright beat the Cubs. I can't take the losses when the Cubs beat the Cubs. We heard the famous excuses in April and May when they were consistently beating themselves that it was early. Well everyone that used that excuse needs to take a step back and realize that if we had those games back we would probably have atleast a 4 game lead right now.

Excellent point Sheff- and tonight you can throw in that category- Leadoff walk in the last inning, leaving 2 guys at 3rd with less than two out. Thats just a lack of execution

I could care less about the standings right now! I just want them to start producing some runs...I don't care how, long ball, small ball, errors, I don't care, I just want to see some offense!

I would love to see the stat that shows how many times a batter walks the leadoff hitter and they score...and how many of those are the run that makes the difference in a game. It has to be close to 9 times out of 10!

I think you are probably right. We all know how critical Ron is of the walk and I know for a fact I heard him and Pat discuss this stat not to long ago. I can't remember the exact number if it was 8 or 9 but its one or the other.

The thing was he was 0-2 to him and did not even come close to throwing a strike. Howry was throwing lasers tonight though. He basically told Berkman here it is see if you can hit it. I dont know if it was the camera angle tonight, my TV, the darkness of that park- but it looked like the pitchers were throwing 110 mph

I agree. If this team took care of it's own business we would be sitting in first place right now. Just win every series and forget about what the Brewers are doing. I know watching the scoreboard is inevitable for all teams that are in the hunt at the end of the season. But, if we are looking for the Brewers to loose every night, then that isn't good.

Oh Boo Hoo, the multimillionaires are tired from working their 3 hours today. Excuse me while I slam my hand in the drawer to produce some tears. Sorry I couldn't resist, but the facts are that this team was built to win and they aren't. At least when it counts, they are not. I'm tired of the excuses. It's been 98 freaking years of excuses and we just cannot run away with it when the Brewers are giving it to us gift wrapped with a big blue and red bow on it. It's ours for the taking and we cannot beat the fourth place team that is 15 games under .500 to get it. The pitcher tonight dominated us and he has an ERA of over 4.00 and is/was 3 games under. This team has it so drilled into their head that they can't hit lefties that they don't even seem like they try.

Well, hopefully the Cubs get back to the hotel, dust off their bats, and go to sleep...I kept hearing about how they didn't get into Houston until 3am, etc.etc.etc. Our luck is going to run out sooner or later! I would hate to see what the standings would be if the Brewers weren't struggling right now too!

It would be nice if Cubs would put together a nice stretch again... and stop worrying about the Brewers... Soriano being out for a month hurts bad... but let's just try'en keep our heads above water.

Skipper,

Didn't you mean, "Fatman & Robin"?

I predict that Fielder will eat his way out of the league in two years. Maybe we could start a thread about "man boobs" in the history of baseball.
