Colorado has put up 8 in the last 3 innings against the Brewers; St Louis has already lost. Astoundingly we may still hold steady in the standings.
Let's huff and puff and get this ship sailing again !

If it will help, I will huff and puff until I'm blue in the face, then I will pull out an air pump if I have to...ANYTHING TO HELP THIS TEAM GET ON THEIR FEET AGAIN!

At least we've got these two teams losing. That is the bright spot in all of this. We'll regroup and come back to pummel the Astros tomorrow night! Heather, you may want to have your air pump handy! LOL

What a weird night in baseball.... Cubs lose a to a horrible pitcher.... Brewers lose a lead and get blown out...Cardinals get their 'air let out of their sails again"...and Bonds becomes the Home Run King. AND WE ARE ALL STILL SANE?

Did you guys know that Capuano has had a ND or loss each of his last 9 starts? Brewers are falling apart!

I sort of remember that back in May, the Brewers had a rough stretch that the Cubs didn't take advantage of, that was when the Cubs were in their valley as it were. Come to think of it, the Brewers have been in a rough stretch when we were hot in July. We just tailed off a bit, and they're still in a bit of a freefall.

Question:
Don't we want STL to win if they are playing the Padres???

No !
Zero and 162 is fine for them. Besides, they are much too good a team to ever want winning. Given history their chances are probably about as good as Chicago and Mulwaukee right now. Otherwise your point is well taken.
I would like the Cubs to think only about winning the division - let Milwaukee sneak in with the Wild Card. And St Louis can pout all winter.

If the Cardinals make any "move" for the playoffs, it will be more because of a failure on the Cubs and Brewers parts than STL success
Cardinal Paranoia = Red Scare
There's no reason to think they will make the playoffs unless you are this guy:

the winner of the nl central just might end up only being 6 games over 500... and that is a soemthing the cardinals will struggle reaching... so lets drop teh cardinals...
the brew crew is another thing... im new to this forum... but over a few myspace groups ive been saying that brewers even as hott as they started they don't have the right balance of youth and veterans... as i predicted they would start to buckle under pressure... but i never forsaw teh cubbies struggling like this...our offense is struggling to get key base hits....and i wonder if they will get out of this...
