Just when you think they are gone, you look at the standings and they are only 6 games out of first again. Let's hope we can get this ship righted pretty quick before we give them more reason to believe they actually have a chance this year.

Your right Scuba. After the Nats swept them this past weekend, I thought that was it for them . Of course both us and the Crew lost 3 in a row, so they are still in the mix as are the Astros. The Astros with another sweep this weekend could pull within 5 games of the loss column of the Brewers. The Astros are known to be a second half team.

Both teams to me don't have enough to compete with the Brewers or Cubs. The Cardinals starting pitching is a mess and they hardly have a bullpen...also their offense goes down with Pujols even though Duncan has become a good hitter.

I tend to agree with this, but one of the teams mentioned just mopped the field with our asses in a 3 game sweep and the other team is the World Champs- not to mention they just took 3 of 4 from SD. But in saying that, I dont think they are good enough to catch us or the Brewers like you said.

However, with the Brewers collapsing like they have been, it could end up being a Cubs-Cardinals race, with a little bit of the Astros sprinkled in.

No way anyone can count these guys out just yet. We face them another 8 times. If the Brewers continue to fold and we hold first place those two series could end up deciding where and when we finish the season.

At this point, I'm not very focused on the Cards... however, to underestimate them would be extremely foolish.

The Cubs made a 8.5 game lead dissapear in one month. The Cards could just as easily erase the 5 games they are back in the next 7 weeks.

They 're like Jason - they won't stay dead. They're as annoying as their fans.

Forget the Brewers! The Cardinals are the real threat to the Cubs' quest for the division title.

without a doubt... ive they get above 500 they will win this devision...

ben sheets coming back won't help the brewers much...

and be prepaired to see all the cardinal fans to come out of the woodwork to heckle the cubs fans... now that they have a chance

Maybe the Cardinals might be on a high right now, but they'll be on the low after they leave Wrigley Monday. The Cubs have their number this year.

After one game, I am. Of course, that is one game. At least JJ was able to rescue us from Pujols' blast with one oppo of his own. I was telling Neal, one of our shift managers, that it might come down to a late home run. It wasn't as late as I thought, but it'll work.

Wow.... A few weeks ago the Cubbies were flying high. Then the Brewers starting looking over their shoulders the Cubbies were charging hard and all of a sudden it appeared that neither the Cubs or the Brewers were on the way up. I hated to look at the amount of ground the Cards had gained.... ugh. Now the Cubs have gotten themselves off of the floor, (and Cincy out of town) and have taken the first two games from the Cards. I have to smile when I read the St Louis Post on the internet... When they were coming to Chicago their fans were talking about a 4-game sweep. Then JJones hit a homer with a man on and Hill only allowed one run. Their talk changed to taking 3 out of 4. Marshall pitched a nice game and the Cubs put up enough to win. Many thanks to D Wards Grand Slam homer. Now their fans are talking about we have to get a 2/2 split. Oh well maybe Tony will have the pitcher bat 6th or 7th? Too bad the game tonight got rained out but we can look ahead to tommorrow. Just keep playing em one at a time.

Well, it seems now that the Cards will be lucky to get out of ChiTown with a single win. They did have a two-RBI double by Edmonds, but the Cubs answered in the second with Ward and DeRosa telling the bartender to give them a double shot of Jack.
