Thats good news, if we get Schmidt Philly's are gonna be sitting where we have been the past post seasons, getting overtaken on the market by other teams

Schmidt is the main guy I would like to see the Cubs get. Hopefully something comes out of all this. :D

I would love schmidt, he does well at wrigley, but I would rather have two second tier pitchers. meche and padilla would be great at wrigley. if we sign schmidt, which i still would not mind, marshall would be in the rotation as the fourth starter with miller as the 5th starter.
zambrano
hill
padilla
meche
miller/prior
i would prefer that alot more

Not bad nolan. I just don't think I really want Padilla. I think the Cubs could get Schmidt and then make a trade for Westbrook.
Zambrano
Schmidt
Westbrook
Hill
Miller/PriorThat looks pretty awesome to me and realistic. We'll see what happens though! ;)

I have to agree with you Scuba that would be a nice rotation. There is some good possibilities of shut down pitchers in that rotation with the powerful line up we have that should get us where we need to be

That would be a HUGE improvement in the rotation from last year.

I like Padilla. His talent might be one of the best on the market, though his attitude sucks. Schmidt and Westbrook would be two guys who would fill out he rotation real nicely. We can't afford to rely on the 3 potential comback player of the year canidates to get us in the playoffs.

The Cleveland GM is now saying he is not interested in trading Westbrook. he is looking to aquire Scot Shields and Trot Nixon.

Excuse me? They already have him, this story speaks of the Cubs telling him not to play winter ball.

He has talent , but he has earned the rep of a headhunter ( well deserved ). I think we will be headed in the right direction this season and don't need a cancer like that in the clubhouse. Hendry still has a buttload of $$$$ at his disposal , if he doesn't make a serious run at Schmidt , he's dumb. Piniella really wants Meche , so we can almost certainly pencil him in for the coming season.

Yeah, I saw that Westbrook probably isn't available anymore. I think we really need to try to land Schmidt, and then go after Meche or Lilly. Padilla just isn't very good if you look at his numbers. Not really sure what all the hype is about with him when Meche and Lilly's numbers look about the same (if not better) and you could get either one of them cheaper than Padilla.

I like the fact he's not afraid to throw inside. He can be a clubhouse cancer, whch in concerning. I don't like Meche. His numbers don't impress me, and he's not going to be worth the money for a guy "on the verge" of breaking out. He might turn out to be great (and I'll eat crow), I just don't see it.

Could be but we have a bunch of guys in our own organization that are on the verge of breaking out also.
