Did he pitch great tonight, or what? Plus, I always love it when pitchers help themselves by getting hits.

Yeah no doubt, he was outstanding tonight. Marquis has been a solid 4-5 type starter with 9 wins and a low 4 era for us. That's exactly what you would hope for from his spot in the rotation, he has his games where he is lit like a Christmas tree, but that's what 4 or 5 SP's do from time to time. Sometimes people overact and want him run out of town, but in big spots or key games Marquis has come up HUGE about 3 or 4 times now. This game was huge because it ensured at least a split and with Hill and Marshall both lefties who have to use breaking pitches like curves they have a legit chance of getting roughed up because in Colorado those pitches don't work sometimes they hang. So props to Marquis

Marquis was ON last night...and gave everyone a big sigh of relief. It was just horrible that he did so well, and had to have his night end after he hit baker in the head. I really felt bad for Jason, you could tell he was very upset.

I wonder if this will effect him in the future. This could have lingering effects on his control if he lets it get to him.

I dont know about the future, but I think it would have definately affected him last night. He really looked shell shocked. Props to Lou for getting him out of there. Howry was awesome again too. One has to wonder what Demps was doing up in the 7th warming up. Has Lou changed his mind on the closer role????????

Lou should put Marmol in the closer role. Dempster has done a great job closing but he should setup. Marmol is lights out.

Yeah, that was a much needed outing for Marquis. He was pitching like he did the first 2 months.

I agree, but right now, Marmol needs to pitch earlier. Just so he can be eased into the closers role. He could be really great with that slider.

He's pitched earlier in the games for the past 2 months. I think he's ready. He has the kind of attitude you want in a closer. Give him the job and see what happens.

I didn't have a chance to go on here while I was in Denver, but luckily I got to see Marquis pitch in person the other night, and he was great. I was expecting him to go the whole game until he hit Baker.
