FOX RIVER GROVE -- Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday for a 47-year-old man who was struck by a freight train in northwest suburban Fox River Grove Friday morning.

A Union Pacific freight train traveling southeast to Chicago fatally struck Thomas Bujnowski, according to Fox River Grove Police Chief Robert Polston, who said police consider the death an accident.

Bujnowski, a physical education teacher and coach from Fox River Grove, was an avid Cubs fan and is believed to have designed the "K" sign made famous during Kerry Wood starts, Slovacek said.

The sign was first used in Wood’s 20-strikeout performance against the Houston Astros May 6, 1998 at Wrigley Field.

How sad!
