I really hope this kid gets the call up in September.... I realize that in 7 at bats in the major leagues, he only hit .143.... but in Iowa, this kid is TEARING IT UP!
Batting Average: .358
Games:106
At Bats:369
Runs:69
Hits: 132
Doubles: 31
Triples: 3
Homers: 24
RBI: 103
Total Bases: 241
Walks: 50
Srikeouts: 90
On Base Percentage: .427
Slugging: .653
OPS: 1.08
The strikeout to walk ratio is kind of high, but so are the other power numbers.
He bats .317 against lefties and .378 vs righties. He could be another right handed power bat to use off the bench. We have a very long stretch of games, and could really use a bat like this off the bench.
(I didn't realize he is Ramon Martinez's cousin!!!!!...former Cub infielder!)

WOW- THOSE ARE AMAZING NUMBERS
103 RBI IN 369 ABS
90 KS IS ABOUT 20 % OF THE TIME WHICH IS A LITTLE HIGH. It looks like 25% but if you add his 50 walks to his abs it comes down a little.
I just hope we resign Kendall.

Congrats to Geovanny!
Congratulations to Soto, who was named 2007 Most Valuable Player in the Pacific Coast League. He's the first catcher to win the honor since Sandy Alomar Jr. did so in back-to-back years in 1988 and '89. The Iowa catcher leads the league with 106 RBIs and a .650 slugging percentage and is second with a .353 batting average. He has 31 doubles in 108 games.
"He's had a real nice year," Piniella said. "He's a good-looking young catcher. He's somebody who can grow in this organization. He's hit the ball well and hit left-handed pitching especially well. He's hit the ball with some power, driven in runs. He doesn't get all that many cheap hits. I liked what I saw this spring. He handled our pitching staff well."

Congrats to the PCL player of the year and hopefully the 08 ROTY! I know its a small sampling but Soto has been tearing up MLB pitching. I think he's 10 for 19 with 2 HR and a handful of rbis. Plus he's no slouch behind the plate, he's got a gun. I can see him winning the starting job next year. Something tells me kendall wont be back.

Soto has been tremendous thus far and already seems to be winning the starting role from Kendall.
Don't get me wrong, I like both, miss Barret, but Soto is definitely the catcher we will be seeing a lot of next year.

Many people have said that Soto is the Cubs' catcher of the future. He seems to have the whole package right now.

I forsee him starting next year in the big leauges. He might be eased into the starting job or they could just hand it to him but he sure can hit. I'm excited to be able to watch him play and develop.
