From today's Rosenblog on chicagosports.com: (http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/rosenblog/2007/08/a-little-league.html)

I have more questions this morning (because there are always questions with the Cubs):

Who was worse, Jason Marquis in the first two innings or Jason Kendall in the ninth? That’s some battery.

Where does 97-year-old Tony Clark get off making that play on Jacque Jones in the ninth?

How do the Cubs lose two out of three to a team that didn’t throw a starter with a winning record?

How do the Cubs lose two out of three and still pick up ground?

How do the Cubs lose 11 of 19 games without Alfonso Soriano and go from one game behind Milwaukee to 1 1/2 games ahead?

No, wait, let me ask it this way: Which is more unbelievable, that the Cubs were three games under .500 without Soriano and overtook Milwaukee for first place or that the Cubs overtook Milwaukee for first place and in the process, let the Cardinals and Reds back in the race?

Yes, you are right... that pretty much sums it up.

Let's win 8 straight and get a gap between us and the rest of the central division.

I have a feeling that the Reds will have a huge say as to who will win the NL central. The Cubs, Brewers, and Cardinals still have some big games against them, and they have been playing well lately. At this stage of the season, every game counts.

How are the Reds not in it? I'm not saying it's likely, but they are 6.5 out and they play each team in front of them 6 more times. Anything is possible. Many were saying the same things about the Cardinals only a few weeks back.

The Reds are not in it. They are still the Reds. 10 games under with a month left. If this division is won by a sub .500 team I don't know what to say.

It's like High school

The class is full of stupid slackers, so the teacher is grading on a curve

The Cubs are the smart kid who does enough to get by and is more interested in igniting ants on the bunson burner than working ahead.

The Brewers are the nerdy underclassman who thought they were smart enough for class, but the material is still a year or two too advanced for them.

And the Cardinals are the kid who thought they were better than everybody and dug themselves in a hole, only to work hard in the 2nd semester and end up wrecking the finals curve.
