Even though were tied for first, the NL Central is a pitiful division, maybe the worst in baseball. Look at the records, were 3 games over .500 and tied for first. Don't get me wrong, winning is winning, but this team is not as good as they could be. There is no excuse for having slightly more power than the Dodgers. Just some random thoughts.

The thing is that the Cards won just 83 games and almost backed into the division title last year. However, they won the World Series. Once the calendar turns to October, it all depends on who is the hot team with hot pitching.

But look on the bright side: The ineptitude of the three teams leading the division makes the NL Central the most interesting race in baseball.

Comedy Central my ass... who ever can climb into the playoffs has a great chance of winning it all (hence Cardinals last year).
Glad to see Cardinals 3 games back... it looked as though they were gonna take over the division... but they have WAY to many injuries -- Cardinals are done!!!

i have mentioned comedy central b-4,but hey it is what it is.it's @ least competetive, this division isn't AL west or NL east which i think r over.but most divisions r close (?) which unlike the past, races seemed over weeks after the break.AL wild card not as tight as NL. as for St.louis they are still on cable, but relegated to the History channel !

Comedy central, I like it
People always bring up the fact that the Cards were in the WS with only 83 wins, but they won 100+ the two previous seasons with pretty much the same roster of stars., which made them more than some 'fluke' team.
The Cubs 2003 season was more of a 'fluke' than than the Cards 2006 season.

i dont think its the worst division i think its the most evenly matched... the pirates and reds always and i mean always play the good teams in the division tough... they just lay over dead for everyone else... we dont get the luxary of playing the royals and devil rays 15-20 games a year... the rivalries in our division our fierce...

Actually it is quite bad if you look at the numbers
Against NL Eastern Division, the Brewers are the only NLC team with a winning record (barely that is 15-14) everyone else is under .500
Against NL Western Division, no NL Central team has a winning record
In IL Play, only the cubs and Brewers have winning records (thanks to the exceedingly crappy White Sox :D)
There is only one team in the NL east and west that has a record under 500 playing teams from the NLC, the Florida Marlins.

You just killed any argument that the central is a good division. Bravo! :D
Who knows, maybe we'll get in the playoffs and do something.

I didn't think it was that bad either.
Yea, just get to the playoffs. No auto-loss this week with the Cubs missing Wandy Rodriguez, so yes, there is hope!!!

This is true, very interesting. Actually, being part of this sucky division opens up the golden opportunity for the Cubs to take it. These might be the only circumstances under which we have this chance and I hope they can have the confidence to take complete advantage of it.

Tell ya what. If (please note, I said if) the Cubs win the World Series this season, the only people that will be talking about regular season records will be Sox fans. I will be taking a bath in Budweiser and pinching myself hoping that it wasn't a dream. It really happened.
So lets just get to the playoff and see what happens.

Hell, if the Cubs can manage to not let Houston/Cincy knock them out of the race before the playoffs start I will be a happy man.
Cubs against Pitt, Cincy, Houston 16-21
Milwaukee against them 25-16
There's your division title right there, what a joke
