I just read on mlbtraderumors.com that the cubs might be the frontrunner for Lilly.. I'm not sure what I think of that. Would be nice to have a veteran southpaw on our pitching staff

Him being lefty would be a great advantage because we are obviously lacking in that category. We are also lacking in left handed bats in the line up in which we obviously know he's not gonna produce for us in that category but I don't think the lack of left handed bats will hurt us with the line up that its gonna already be.

Hey now.. lets not forget we're in the National League, where the pitchers always bat... :)

I would not mind seeing Lilly in Cubbie blue a bit, especially if we get a guy like Schmidt!

I like the idea. As far as batting goes he proubley isn't to good at it.

I thought I heard that Lilly was after like $10mil/yr and Toronto is heavily interested in him and Meche. That's a little more than I would like to see the Cubs spend for either one of them, but I guess if they don't get Schmidt it would be worth it. We need something.

Yeah, I read that toronto is most likely to land meche, and if they do.. then that leaves the cubs as the frontrunners for lilly. I suppose they're both about equal, with the exception of age..

Much rather have Meche than Lilly, we already have a lefty starter and Meche has more to offer. I find it funny no one has said anything about Tomo Ohka. He's a pretty good starter and would be cheap.

If we could get him for 5-6 a year, I'd be okay with it, but 10 mil for a guy who has never done anything except consistanty throw 5.00 ball, with a high era no thanks...

You know.. I don't know why cubs fans are so worried about the players paychecks.. It ain't coming out of our piggy banks, and we have no idea how much more JH plans to spend.. If he plans to shell out another 30, ten isn't that big of a deal.
