HAHAHA! Thats funny. Schmidt needs the Cubs and the Cubs need Schmidt! Also I just noticed that Countdown to Opening Day clock up there. Pretty sweet! Fogpod kicks cubs.com in the ***.

If he can't pitch, he might as well help the rotation all he can! Good stuff.. Schmidt has potential question marks but he's definately worth it!

Same here, we don't need another season added to that kind of meat.

Schmidt has averaged 33 starts and 200+ innings though his career. He has thrown a lot, and was a ictim on Dusty, but he keps himself in shape. He'd be a quality addition...

Somethin tells me MP had a USC career similar to Matt Leinart, women and ballroom dancing. Can't blame him, I would too! Definate FO candidate when he's done pitching. Couldnt do any worse then the clowns who've been running the show for the last century.

With theaggressive persuit of Lilly it almost appears that Schmidt has decided against Chicago... I'd like him here... Here's to hoping...

Schmidt has averaged 28.5 starts and 183 2/3 innings the past 10 years. It's more than Prior and Wood combined, so from that standpoint, it's an upgrade. The Cubs will need 2 starters, not just one. Their starter ERA was 5.32 which was second highest in baseball. One starter won't bring that ERA down enough. They'll need another one.

We basically are bringing in two.. I know we had Miller last year.. but only at the end.. I think he'll be a quality pitcher this year, something that we mostly lacked last year.. not that I'm saying that our SP's that started last year don't have great outlooks.. but what they were last year just wasn't cutting it.
