I'm not a big fan of Lilly but he is ok. We need some reliable starter behind lord Z.

Lilly does seem like a pretty reliable starter.

Lilly's agent said they are beyond preliminary discussions.....Lilly could be good for us as long as he stays off the DL..;)

I think our whole team will be good if everyone stays off the DL. :p

I don't see any reason for excitement. I can't hink of many reasons to get excited over a pitch with a career record just over .500, and an ERA over 4.50. We're gonna overpay for a #4 starter?

Schmidt and Padilla (I don't care how looney he is) are better invesments. The only thing Lilly has going for him id he hasn't realy seen the NL since his rookie year, so he'll have a half a season advantage....

WEBGEM...that is what I was sayingabout soriano...

Don't get me wrong, i love the guy but if you put dlee back in our lineup and our pitchers make at least some of their starts last year we are right in it....

Toronto also offered him arbitration. So besides his mediocre stats, we'd have to surrender a supplimental first round pick. Not worth it.

I think he has a career winning record? Throws strikes which is a big plus and is a LH. Put him with a team with some big bats and he may win 15 games. I like the guy even though we will pay more than we would in a normal market. It just so happens this is a year when not many pitchers are available and there are a lot of buyers. You either pay the price or do not get them. That is the way our good ole economic system and law of supply and demand work.

Suplimental pick means a sandwich pick we won't lose a pick for Lilly. Keep in mind we got a pick when Pierre signed with the Dodgers, also keep in mind Padilla is an alcoholic and has off the field problems so I wouldn't call him a safer investment at all.
