What does everyone think if the Cubs looked into signing Aubrey Huff. I read various posts and articles about Cliff Floyd, but Huff to me seems like a better option. He's younger and more versitile. He plays OF/1B/3B.

Jones will probably be dealt (ship him to BMore for Rodrigo Lopez), and there's no reson to rent Kenny Lofton for year. Leave Sori there until Pie is ready, and go with Murton & Huff in the corners.

Thoughts?

 i have always likd aubrey huff, i thought when he played with the drays that the cubs should get him.although i REALLY like j. jones but if they are going to ship him out (i don't know why) huff would be a great addition.

I love the whining over Jones "his arm stinks" and such. Its great, the guy comes over and has a great season and we ship him out??????

Rumor has it that the reason we are shipping him out is because he requested a trade. He couldn't hack it when the fans got on him and now that Dusty is gone, he is complaining about that. I liked his bat, but if he is not going to be happy here than don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya...

THANK YOU!!!!

Its been upsetting on how everyone wants to get rid of the guy bc he doesnt buy everyone in the right field bleachers a Porsche.

Considering the options, I rather have Jones in center and his bat in the lineup vs Lofton or whoever else they are talking about going in center for the cubs.

I dont want jones to leave either but if he doesnt want to play here then a trade might not be a bad idea. I still blame the idiot who threw the ball at him last year. grrrr.

jacque jones arm isnt relatively weak.
his throwing mechanics are weak.
i say keep jacque jones because players like him keep a ballclub loose.

I like JJ, the only reason I would want him out is if we can get a good pitcher for him, and a good center fielder to replace him. But since I doubt we're gonna get that, I say keep him. He's a good bat to have.

JJ had a really good year and that doesn't warrant a trade. Pros/cons aside, the idea is that we need to get one more quality starter. JJ vs Murton, we'll take the older guy who may or may not have demanded a trade. Lofton is intriguing because he is a a short term fix and can still play. He is old but still has really good speed.

I guess Huff is the option brought up in the post. Looks like they are approaching their budget with the signing of another pitcher. I thought I read somewhere that Huff is looking for around 9mil/year which might take him out of our range. Over his first 5 years in the league he was consistently .300, 25-30hr and 100rbi. defense is lackluster. I was hoping the cubs would have made a move for him a couple years ago. I don't think it will happen this time around either

Huff is a much better option than Floyd.Younger and less history of injuries.
Can play both corner infield and outfield positions
Having Huff and Derosa on the same squad
would give Sweet Lou lots of options and injury insurance.
I would also talk to Tampa Bay about lf/cf Carl Crawford. He is a 25 year old left handed hitting stud with speed and power. The Rays were shopping him at the trade deadline last summer. They are also looking for bullpen help and are thin at shortstop.{Ronnie Cedeno,Will Ohman,Angel Guzman and even Pie if thats what it would take!}Then sign Huff or Floyd, and trade J.Jones for Jason Jennings or Jake Westbrook, and its party time on the Northside of Chi-town!!!!

Crawford would be really nice. Not going to happen however. The D rays are looking for 1 maybe 2 top of the rotation pitchers for Crawford. That would be nice though because he would be sexy in CF for the cubs or corner when pie comes up. Sorry to let you down.
