Well does Rex step up and play this week or does he have another 3-4 INT game? This should be an interesting one considering its in Chicago and gonna be cold as hell. Whats your thoughts?

Who cares if Rex throws 4 INT, as long as the defense doesnt give up any points, and we score a safety. Sorry, not being very realistic.
I think Rex will step it up this week, and feel more comfortable at home. The Vikings secondary is HORRIBLE! We can get so many long balls on them. Anyways, we have a good defense and a good offense. No worries, were at home.
I went to the Minn. vs Chi. game when they first played and man does it get loud in there.

It is going to be an interesting game. Honestly, though, I see the Bears tearing them apart. They're home for the first time in about a month and Rex has got something to prove. He needs to get that confidence back that he had early in the season. He's shown he can play at an elite level in this league. It's all about confidence.

Dec 2nd 2006, 3:18 pm
He has really seemed to lose that confidence in a terrible way the last 5 weeks. If he regains that confidence you will see him constantly putting up games like the niners and packers but as long as he doesn't regain it, it could be a real ugly last half of the season.

The only time he's shown that he can play at an elite level is against really crappy teams. I'm not sold on him.. If the Bears make the switch, I think they'll be a better team. I think Rex is a lot like Harrington.. great arm, but not mentally in the game.

I don't know if you can say that Brutus. I mean, when the Bears played the Seahawks early in the year, everyone said that was a big game and he showed up. Same for the Giants game a couple weeks back. Granted, he didn't play well against the Pats, but who did? That was one ugly game.

he's had 5 ugly games in a row. The seahawks weren't what they should have been, and the giants were so injury dessimated it was rediculous. He chokes, man.. he had 6 turnovers against Arizona.. are you kidding me?

Brutus, he doesn't choke. Give the kid time, it's his first year where he has had this many starts in a row. Would you rather have Griese out there?

The domers, lol. Well they practice all week in the cold I believe so I think it won't be too bad. But definately home field advantage.

I agree he hasn't played well sometimes, Brutus, but they were still big games at the time and were in primetime and he showed up for them. He has looked really bad at times, but give him some more time to grow.
Everybody ready for the game! Jack and Coke anyone?! :D :p

This whole idea of protecting the QB has flared out of control, What a terrible call on Urlacher, isn't there a theory that we should get the benefit of the doubt at home and there wasn't even a question there noway in hell that was a penalty

Dec 3rd 2006, 2:43 pm
This has been one ugly offensive game but the Bears defense has put on one hell of a game today. Bears need to take advice from the Vikings on when its time to yank your QB cause they obviously had no problem doing it!!
DLee25
Dec 3rd 2006, 2:46 pm
one of those INT wasnt grossmans fault. so really he should have 2
Sheffield_&_Waveland
Dec 3rd 2006, 2:49 pm
Its not only about the interceptions he is just consistently terrible in ever category, decision making is horrible, INT, passer rating, pass completion %, there is noway the Bears are gonna be able to rely on their defense and special teams to take them through the playoffs.
DLee25
Dec 3rd 2006, 2:55 pm
He has completed like 4 passes. I think people said, "there is no way they are gonna be able to rely on their defense and special teams to make it through the rest of the season" Why can't we do it in the playoffs then?
Sheffield_&_Waveland
Dec 3rd 2006, 3:00 pm
The week that specail teams and defense doesn't score 17+ points is the week the Bears get knocked out of the playoffs which I will predict first round. There is just noway I will build confidence in a team that has problems scoring on offense. The only confidence I have at this point is that Rex is terrible and he will be consistent with being terrble. We have heard the theory that he is gonna have bad games but if you can't figure out after 7weeks of bad games that he is bad then nothing I say is gonna change your mind about him.
DLee25
Dec 3rd 2006, 3:04 pm
Oh, no doubt you can change my mind. But I don't see any stats about 7 bad weeks? He had a bad week in NE kind of, bad week in arizona...I am just trying to make discussion, don't let me get on the rough side of you. I am a pretty hard headed guy and argue about a lot of things lol. But it's not like once I see someones name I am just going to disagree. I agree with people half of the time, and we all have our disagreements.
But I doubt the Bears are gonna get knocked out first round.
Sheffield_&_Waveland
Dec 3rd 2006, 3:14 pm
All the Interceptions alone speaks for itself, taking away the one today that wasn't his fault he has thrown 13 Int the last 7 games, average rating of 56.8 in last seven games, 49% completion percentage in last 7 games. Any other team that has a QB that put up numbers like this and didn't have a Defense like the Bears do would be lucky to even be looking at a wild card spot So I think this alone would make anybody think it may be time to get Griese ready before its to late.
DLee25
Dec 3rd 2006, 3:18 pm
Put orton in, he is from Iowa. lol no I agree, we need to see what Griese can do. But we do need to realize that its his first full season, and he has to grow sometime. We can't pull him out and be like alright get ready for next year.
Sheffield_&_Waveland
Dec 3rd 2006, 3:23 pm
Well I was never one of the first ones to start yelling that its time to take Rex out but after 7 games of numbers like that its obviously time they do something cause they have been lucky with a defense and special teams that has pulled him out of the hole. I am not sure what approach they need to take to benching him if its just a week or two to make him realize that he has to earn that role or if they make the switch and stick with it but I feel its real obvious at this point that something needs to be done.
DLee25
Dec 3rd 2006, 3:25 pm
I completely agree. But the weather has had some effect on his numbers today, maybe not in the past. Maybe take grossman out (almost over) and say hey, were taking you out, not a very good day, but its cold out and the weather is weird. Just giving someone else a shot. I dont know what grossman would do.
Edit: the game is over i think what was the final score?
