Not necessarily the "offseason blues" but the "offseason boredom". I had the day off...and found myself not quite sure what to do while my son was in school. I tried shopping....got to the store, and didn't feel like aimlessly walking around the aisles buying stuff I don't need..... I couldn't really do much around the house as I decided yesterday I didn't need the tip of my middle finger and cut it off at work, so needless to say, it's kinda difficult typing with 9 fingers instead of 10 right now...and couldn't really do much as far as cleaning without re-bumping it and causing some serious pain and re-opening the wound....and daytime tv? UGH!

So, I started to plan Christmas. I figure, if I bring Christmas sooner, then Spring Training will be here before I know it, right?

Ouch! Upside is that there is no funner injury to show to friends, family, and other drivers on the road. :D

Did they reattach the tip? how much was cut off? How in the world did you do it? So many questions. You will have to get used to answering them cause people are nosy. Especially me.

I was cutting tomatoes with a brand new knife.... one of the maters was a little mushy, it gave way as the knife came down on the tip my finger.... to spare gross details... I still have all of my finger.... and will probably have a scar there, but you can bet I will be asking someone else from here on out to cut any produce! LOL!

What is a manager doing cutting produce anyways? Especially with the stress and frutration of a failed postseason appearance of their favorite baseball team weighing on their soul. No Cubs fan should be around knives in September or October, for the safety and wellbeing of themselves and everyone around them.

You have no idea how bad it is for Mara and I around here. The DBacks "fans" are making things so much worse.

Get this......they still have 4,000 seats left for tonights game. Can't even sell out a NLCS game. Sold out the Cubs series for sure, but not against a division rival. They won't stop crying about it either.

For as annoyed as I am at the sudden flood of "Die Hard" Rockies fans around my area, people are really geeked to have October baseball. Which is pretty cool considering how often I have had to defend baseball growing up a huge fan in Colorado. I think it is mostly strange because I am used to my family in Springfield, half cubs and half Cards fans, fighting about baseball when both teams are fighting for last place. Anyways, I feel for you Doba. At least there is excitement in the air here.

I am now a Rockies fan by default I guess. The D-Backs "fans" are not really fans if they don't sell out a NLCS.

It's seasons like this that really makes me want to want to root for the American League. I compare it to pizza, who do i want to win the world sereies- the old flavor original deep dish, or flash in the pan chain restaurants? Besides, I almost have to root for Cleveland by default just b/c of Major League. Although we will be almost alone at the top of the sorriest MLB franchises. Sigh.

OMG, Brandon, I'm so happy to read this! It's totally true! I cannot believe that they can't sell out. I didn't want to post about this situation because someone on the board called my attitude about this "adolescent," without being here and knowing what it's like. But it absolutely amazes me when the news stations keep reporting it (while trying to get ticket sales up), and all I can think about is how crazy it would be now in Chicago had the Cubs still been in it!!!!! It's really something to be around the so-called "fans" at the games as well as family members and friends who consider themselves fans. I'm sure even if they win tonight, there won't be a commotion in downtown Phoenix! This town is apathetic as far as the playoffs are concerned! It's no reason to take off work or get you family together to go to a game--it's actually kind of eerie!

What a waste of a playoff spot! DAMN I wish the guys would have showed up to play in the NLDS!!!!!!

Mark DeRosa said it best... it feels like the day after you graduate high school.... "Wow. That's it? It's over?"

You couldn't have said it better, what a waste of a playoff spot. It means SO MUCH to us and so little to them (DBacks fans). I know I sound pathetic, but I don't care!

Since we're on the topic oc the Dbacks fans, is anyone watching the game? Clint Hurdle pulled the Rockies off the field b/c the fans were throwing trash on the field and pretty close to the guys in the outfield. Now cub fans havent been immune to this kind of behavior, but it was never malicious or warranted the opposing manager pulling his team off the field. Crazy.

It's now official, I will root for whoever is playing the Dbags for the rest of my days. That may be a bit harsh but, meh.

Of course, if the Cubs had done their jobs and WON THE NLDS, tickets to the game would get into four figures on StubHub, maybe even as high as Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus concert duckets; Sheffield and Waveland avenues would be half filled with fans a la 2003; and the ol' stadium would be rocking and rolling as the Cubs try to rock the Rox.

It makes me sad to read that, but you're right, VanMan. It would have been a really wild and happy time! I would have tried to get there, and it would have meant a lot to a lot of people. :(

There was a game earlier this year where the Wrigley Faithful showed their disgust and threw litter on the field and the opposing team (I belive it was the Astros) left the field while the grounds crew picked up the mess.

I was at a game in 2004 where fans threw their litter on the field. It was against the Reds, and Wood was on the mound. He had been getting squeezed by the Ump all game (I belive it was CB Buckner). When Dusty came out to get Wood in the 9th, Wood went ballistic and charged the umpire screaming obscentities (of which we could hear from where were sitting). Dusty was able to grab him and Barrett held him back. Of course, Wood got ejected...and the fans threw trash all over the outfield.

Tonights game just proved how terrible and classless the DBacks fans are. Good luck selling out game 2. Tickets on Craigslist were going for half of face value. Cubs tickets were triple the price.

I made a pledge this morning to never go to another game at Chase field. I can't stand that organization and their fans. Not to mention the only time I ever go is when the Cubs are in town and they loose every time I go to the game.

I heard that Alice Cooper was going to buy up whatever tickets didn't sell.

Brandon and Mara,

Have you ever heard of his estate in Arizona? It's called "Cooperstown". He's a huge baseball fan, and a remarkable performer. I'll bet I have seen him about five times.

Buying up tickets doesn't put fans in the seats.

I've been the the bar by the ballpark he owns called Cooperstown. Not sure if it is the same place you are talking about. He does a haunted house as well.

Yes, I've heard of it, Taz. He grew up here and went to Cortez High School here in Phoenix. He is a huge baseball fan and a golfer and does charity golf events throughout the year. And I have been to his bar too, it's within walking distance of the ballpark. Like Brandon said, it's either called "Cooperstown" or "Alice Cooperstown" and the bartenders wear the same eye makeup he wears on stage. It's pretty cool.

Wow, tickets were going for half of face value? What a joke! Actually, it's pretty sad. I only go to Chase Field when the Cubs are in town too. My friend who works there always tells me that when the Cubs and their fans are in town, Chase Field is at its busiest. They are considered premium games, therefore, the tickets sell for a higher price. They also sell out and they hire a lot of temps to help work those games. I have to say, last night's incident didn't say anything good for the DBacks fans or the organization.
