Get those red toothpicks ready, as Dusty and the Reds have agreed to a 3 year deal.
The Reds had made it known that they want a high profile manager, well, he certainly may be high profile, but I hope they are ready for a laid back manager.

Can you imagine what the crowd's reaction is going to be the first time Dusty has to come back to Chicago with the Reds and make an appearance on the field???? I can only imagine the signs that will be in the park that day!

Have you seen the reaction over at the Reds forum? I'd hate to guess but I think a large majority of Reds fans are very mad about Baker being hired.

Here's one response from their board:
Finally, Wayne Krivsky and The Reds got this one right. A seasoned manager in Dusty Baker sending the signal that the Reds are serious about winning. Baker will chill the club house, he's experienced and while he has no history with the Reds, I'm sure he remembers the tradition surrounding Reds baseball because he was frequently on the losing end to the "Big Red Machine" during his playing days.
Way to go Wayno....now go get some pitching and let's win a World Series!!
with a response of:
66-96 here we come
please, please, please tell me that this isn't true. Dusty Baker is a clown; He
will ruin Bailey and Cueto. If this is true, it will affect the reds 10 years down the
road. If I am Aaron Harang, I am asking for a trade.
I can't belive this, I honestly thought Castillini and Krivsky were smarter than this. Baker...holy cow. Pardon me while I go drown myself in the bath tub. I have no desire to watch this team become even worse than it was this season. What were they thinking? And how many fans with Baker keep away from the ballpark next season? I won't go back. Not as long as Baker is manager. I will go see the Florence Freedoms.
I am offically a Tampa Bay Devil Rays fan now.
Good grief, what a mess...
Shoot me in the head..........run me over with a car.........Whatever it takes............................I LIVE IN HE11
and the best one.....
Mr DIP$HIT hires MR TOOTHPICK
Well, the Reds fans seem really happy with the newly hired manager!

Not like he'll make a diffence besides ruining some young pitchers arms....the Reds are just horrible.

I'd say so. They seem as happy as Cardinal fans losing one of the games best GM's.

I cannot wait! I was thinking if I got tickets I would bring a big cardboard toothpick I could fold up. Not too big, I wouldn't want to make anyone behind me! If I don't, someones gonna!

TICKETS?? why Neifi you will be playing. I wonder how many of his old working partners will be with him. Waving Wendell?? And will the fans get to see Dusty (other than in the dugout). That was his one of his biggest downfalls when he tried to manage here. Sitting in the dugout until the pitchers arms fell off.

Well, Dusty did break one curse, being the first ex-Cubs manager to get another managerial position in the majors since who knows when.
Adam Dunn and Aaran Haraang have to be pissed though

Oh great. Now we have to listen to espn blow the cubs-reds series way out of proportion because of this.

LOL!! Yeah thats right, I forgot about his beer buddy. I really expect lots of "his guys" go to the Reds with him, they already have the man with the greatest name of all time, Dick Pole. Yeah I really really hope Wendell Kim goes with him so we can all laugh at him when he sends Z from 1st base. The Reds have made a huge mistake, as Gob Bluth would put it.
