This is a really good movie that actually has some of the Sosa/McGwire footage in it from the home run race.
It was the summer of 1961. New York Yankees Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle both took on Babe Ruth's sacred record of 60 home runs in one season. Two opposites fighting for the same goal. Yankees goldenboy vs. a hard hitting Midwesterner. For baseball lovers this would be an unforgettable moment in time.

This is one of my absolute favorites....although I have been compared to a female version of Ben! LOL
High school teacher and Boston Red Sox fan Ben Wrightman meets successful businesswomen Lindsey Meeks and they immediately hit it off. Despite being from very different worlds, their relationship seems to be perfect ...until Opening Day! Now Lindsay is introduced to another love in Ben's life, his obsession with the Red Sox.

This is another one of my favorite movies. It has a great on and off field plot. From the first time I saw this movie, I couldn't help compare Kevin Costner's character to Greg Maddux.

Detroit Tiger legend Billy Chapel is pitching what may be the final game of his career. Chapel, facing the Yankees, begins to flashback to the last 4 years spent with the women he loves, Jane Aubrey, who earlier that day told him it was over and she was taking a job in London. As the game unfolds Chapel realizes how much Jane meant to him ... and that he's got a perfect game going! Now Chapel wonders if he can win her back and if his aging arm can complete the perfect game.

First off, welcome to Fogpog tickbite. This is the best site in the world to talk Cubs baseball. Everyone can express their own opinion without getting slammed. We might not agree all the time, but the bottom line is we respect each other.
The list of baseball movies is very impressive. I not only like the new ones, but also like the old ones like Pride of the Yankees and Fear Strikes Out.

It sure makes it good when you're soul mate shares the same love for the Cubs as you do. She even gets a little more animated than I do when things are not going good with the team.
When I was about 18, one of my requirements was that they must be a Cub fan. I've been married twice. Both wives just tried to passify me by pretending to be interested. Needless to say, in either case, things didn't work out. Girly girls don't make good wives of a sports fanatic.
My girlfriend Kris and I have been together for 15 years. We started going together about the time when Sammy Sosa was getting his feet wet in the Cubs organization. Whenever Sammy hit a homerun, she would scream, "SAMMY". She didn't care if I was sleeping or not. We have a 12 year old daughter together, and I'll give you three guesses what her name is: Sami. If it was a boy, he would have been Sammy.
I've found that girl that I envisioned from when I was younger. I am very afraid of getting married for a 3rd time. Could any of you guys tell me what you think I should do. Getting married again scares the hell out of me. Kris has big shoulders and takes care of my needs very well.
Sorry to ramble on, but now is the time on the board that we can all connect more on a personal level than during the season.

Well, first off, what does SHE want? You guys have been together 15 years, and that says alot! You have a daughter together, so techincally you are a "family". Do you guys live together now? Can you picture your life in the future without her? Is your reasons for NOT getting married just the fact that you have been divorced twice now? People live and learn from previous mistakes. There is a reason you guys have stuck it out for 15 years, and that tells me that if you have come this far, you'll be okay down the road.
I would say, just by reading what you have here, that you should marry this girl! Why? Many people go through life and never find their "soul mate". You claim to have found yours. Don't give her or yourself that slim chance of losing it! Leave your past where it belongs, in the past. Give your daughter the gift of a true family by every sense. If you have found what you are looking for, don't let it go. In a simple sense, it is a piece of paper standing between you guys and making it legal, but on a deeper sense, you will create an even deeper bond by getting married.
Good luck, Taz! Hey, you could consider a wedding at Wrigley! They did a story on the news a couple of weeks back when the Cubs were in Florida, a couple got married down by the field and had the reception in the Batter's Eye lounge! How perfect would that be for ya?;)

I don't feel comfortable advising you on marriage. I'm lucky enough to have found a woman who shares my passion for the Bears, and will watch the Cubs with me and go to games. We've been married 14 years and have 2 daughters. Both of my daughters favorite Cub is Carlos. While they don't have the passion, they can at least look at a picture on TV and know some of the players.
As for your daughter...my brother has a 6 year old daughter. Her name...Samantha Ryne

Since we're talking movies...well this isn't an actual movie. Anyone old enough to remember WGN airing, "A Look At The Cubs..." and would be followed by the year....So "A Look At the Cubs...1970" Bob and Len had a link to that and to Brickhouse' interview with Durocher about the 1970 Cubs. I think it aired on WGN Morning News sometime in 2006. The link is gone now. I wish we could get those. You would think WGN or MLB would release those. It would also be neat if there was a video montage of "Great Moments in Cubs History." Remember during the rain delays or when WGN needed to fill a little time, they would show Pappas' no-hitter or Banks 500th home run. They would certainly sell them. There are Cub fans all over the world.
In Jordan's last year, the year my daughter was born, I took a trip to the Illinois Broadcaster's museum on Michigan Avenue before we went to the Bulls game. They had on 1 tape, all of the "Greatest Moments..." What a treat that was!

Tickbite forgot the new movie The Final Season, which Heather had as "coming soon." It was released last Friday, but only made 17th place in the box office numbers. The movie is about the summer of 1991 or 1992, which was the last for Norway High School in Iowa before it was merged into Benton Community Schools the following fall. I either just graduated Cedar Falls High or was a freshman at Iowa at the time.
If anyone seen the movie, you might notice the state championship tournament was filmed at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids. The stadium might not be historically accurate, because Vets was rebuilt just a few years ago, and the Class 1A and 3A tournaments in Iowa were played at Carroll in Western Iowa (while classes 2A and 4A were in Marshalltown). Nowadays, all four classes play at Principal Park (where the Iowa Cubs play) in Des Moines.

My son and I were going to see that movie last weekend, Eric, but it wasn't playing anywhere around here. The closest showing was over 2 hours away.
