My son is getting the Peoria Cheifs Kids Club membership again for Christmas, and MY Christmas present came today when the Cubs announced Ryno will be back managing in Peoria again this coming summer!!! I am so excited!

That's one present that won't be a surprise. Lucky kid.
In related news Jody Davis has been hired a manager at Daytona. I find this interesting because I live 74 minutes away - my front door to standing at the ticket window; it's a nice plesant drive - from Jackie Robinson Stadium. Nice park too. Situated on an island ('City Island' I believe it's called) in the Inter-Coastal.
The Cubs could use a Jody Davis right now - most teams could. Solid offense and eventually solid defense (he won the 1986 Gold Glove as catcher). I have to wonder which Geovany Soto is the real one ? It is, to me, one of the main questions going into 2008. The 'new & improved' Geovany Soto could make a significant difference in the year. I hope he's legitimate.

Its good to see Ryno get some managerial experience. I know he expressed interest in the Cubs' job before we hired Lou, and experience was one reason he wasn't strongly considered. It would be awesome seeing Ryno in the Cubs' dugout again somewhere down the line.

From what I've heard he brings a lot of passion in the dugout....After Piniella retires I wouldn't mind seeing him as the big league manager....Actually I'd love it! But not until Lou's done....he's just too much fun!

I think Soto is also a big question going into the season, but I don't think it will remain a question for long. He looked very disciplined at the plate last year hitting to all fields. He seemed to be a double's machine there for a good stretch. With that being said I think Soto will be just fine and the top question by majority is going to be Pie.
