Yeah but its much more easy to find an outfielder than a #3 starter IMO. It would be great for us. He's a sinker ball pitcher

His sinker has been described as "filthy" and it can reach the low 90s. It's a fantastic weapon for inducing grounders and he adds a slider and change to the mix. He also brings a frightening bat to his game.

thanks :cool:, If we pull this move off and Lilly does sign (which ESPN said could be finalized tomorrow) we would be in great shape and possible NL Central front runners with these 2 moves.

3 Jennings
4 Hill
5 Miller/Prior/Marshall/F.A.

It gives us a lefty righty combo which is tough on hitters and because both those SP are less than 20 million combined in addition to Jones and his 5 million plus gone we STILL might sign Schmidt or go after JD Drew or Lugo.

I've seen jennings pitch in person and the guy has filthy stuff. I think the Rockies are crazy for dealing him but if the Cubs can reap the benefits of another teams poor management I am all for it. It will make my $20 a game bet with my Rockie fan buddy more interesting. I have been losing my *** on that the past 2 years.

I like Jennings. He's just starting to come into his own. His record doesn't show it, but his ERA from last year is real impressive, especially pitching at Coors. He'd be a solid addition to the rotation.

Jones has a pretty solid bat, but it can be replaced...

thats an exciting rotation, I dont like giving up jj, but a solid #3 starter has more value then a decent bat. We do need another outfielder now. Lofton is starting to look better.

I would say this would be great for us. Yeah i know it creates a hole in the outfield, but we need starters bad. I would sacrifice Jones for a good starter any day of the week at this point. I don't care if our outfiield consisted of Soriano, Manny, and Sheffield, we would still be cellar dwellers. Starting pitching is the key to success.
