They really do hate the Cubs. There so quick to rip apart Sorianos contract while giving praise to the Red Sox for signing J.D. Drew to that crazy contract at 14 million per year. Never mind the fact that Drew gets hurt every month. Im just saying if the Mets signed Soriano, Minaya would be the smartest GM in the history of MLB. . Its a place where the Cubs are a joke but when it comes time to broadcast them there fast to do it. And anyone who hires Steve Phillips must not really care about facts, really the guy is a failed GM (for the Mets no less) and the Espy's are tantamount to a white trash awards show. The only reason they ever even mention the cubs is the because of the large fan base. They talk about the Yankees, Mets and Red Sox because ESPN employes love them so they think everyone else does.

Not trying to rag on you, but you are pretty self conscious of what others think of our Cubbies. What's up? You hate Steve Stone because he tells it like it is and doesn't sugar coat or ***** foot around the fact that the Cubs stink. Espn doesn't glorify the fact that we overpaid for someone (which we did, but I am TOTALLY fine with), so you are offended. Are you surprised by ESPN's reaction? It is nothing new. You are starting to sound like a White Sox fan. I personally like being under the radar and looked at as an underdog. Being an underdog almost got us to the WS in 2003. Unfortunately, we choked to a bigger underdog. Go figure. Be happy with the fact that we are making a splash and that we are possibly putting together a solid team for once. It's the holiday season. Spread the love. I like this message board because it is not overloaded with all the complaining that goes about on the cubs.com MB. It's ridiculous over there. People complaining because our whole team isn't set, because we aren't signing Zito, Schmidt AND Lugo. Everyone seems to think we are going to be able to get (and afford) 4 #1 starters. Not gonna happen, kids. Lily and Meche will be solid #3 and #4 starters. Everyone seems to be ranking Rich Hill as a very high #2 starter. Whether or not he pans out is one thing. If we sign these two, then we fill in the blanks from there...

Nefi is right, the only teams in the Major Leagues according to ESPN are the Red Sox and the Yankees. Every one else is second page news.
For example, not to stick up for the White Sox or anything but when Boston won the WS it was like the second comming of Christ on ESPN, granted they hadn't won it forever and the broke a so called "curse" but still. Now when the Sox and even the Cards this year won yea they talked about it but it didn't seem like it was important to them as the Boston series.
Now that I think of it, the last time the Yankees won it they televised the victory parade in NYC, did they do that for any other team, I can't think of a time they did.

Hey saying I sound like a White Sox fan really makes you come off as a fool, not to get personal. But there is a anti-Cub bias and if you can't see it, well I feel bad for you. Saying "Its the holiday season" is such a cop-out, saying I should not speak my mind (when you boil it down thats really what your talking about) and the personal attack makes me a little uneasy. Im ok with people disagreeing, in fact I like it in many ways, but you saying I sound like a Sox fan makes me pretty mad. Ok Im done. Gonna go and not be self conscious in light its shopping season. Shure.

Sorry about the reference to the White Sox. That was wrong of me. You are totally entitled to your opinion. I was trying to point out that you could probably better spend your energy by not worrying about what espn and the score think about the Cubs. It just reminded me too much of the karma that the posters on cubs.com spit out so much. People on there are negative about EVERYTHING. Bottom line: I didn't mean to offend you. I was just a little annoyed about all the negativity when you were just venting. Either way, we all need to vent sometimes. :D

Like I said before. The Cub needs all the lambasteing they can get because they deserve it.Its a capitol crime to have not won a WS since 1908 and we are the suckers.I look at it as all of the critisism is finally paying off and lighting a fire under Cub ownership.Pour it on and maybe they'll sign Zito and A-Rod!

Cubs have done more than anyone this offseason... alot of people from ESPN have praised what the Cubbies have done. Don't worry about Steve Phillips... he is a dingleberry.
