There was word in the lobby Tuesday that the $18 million Barry Bonds wants for 2007 is merely a base. According to a major-league source, agent Jeff Borris wants easily reachable incentives built into the contract that would raise Bonds' salary for this season beyond $18 million and guarantee his contract for 2008 -- a package potentially worth more than $40 million. Although the Giants say they want to re-sign Bonds, pursuing so many other high-priced players seems to suggest otherwise.
Wow if he gets that much I will be amazed.

He does not deserve that much. He's old, can't run, and his knee's probably gonna give out at some point in the season, more then it already has.

Barry Bonds-OF-Giants Dec. 7 - 9:59 pm et

Barry Bonds and the Giants have reportedly agreed to terms on a one-year, $16 million contract.
It seemed certain to happen sooner or later, and though we thought the Giants would try to force a bigger pay cut than this, it's a fair salary for Bonds in this market. With Bonds back, the Giants can now try to do something to patch up what a rather ugly pitching staff. Even if Bonds plays in 130 games, the team isn't going to contend without adding another quality starter or two.
