J.D. Drew-OF-Dodgers Dec. 7 - 10:16 pm et

The Dodgers may file a complaint against the Red Sox for tampering with J.D. Drew before he opted out of his contract with the club.
Both agent Scott Boras and Red Sox GM Theo Epstein denied that Drew was ever discussed before he terminated the final three years and $33 million of his contract. If there were some discussions, it's going to be awfully hard to prove, considering that Boras and Epstein were negotiating Alex Cora's deal right around that time and had every reason to be in close communication. Besides, no one knows how to read the market like Scott Boras; he had to be 100 percent confident there was a better deal out there for Drew.

Yeah thats interesting, don't see how they will be able to prove it though. And I am not sure it is the first case of this happening.

What would be the penalty for this anyway?

I think the penalty for tampering is a fine and loss of draft picks.

J.D. Drew-OF- Dodgers Dec. 9 - 11:43 am et

If the Dodgers decide to file tampering charges with the Red Sox in the wooing of J.D. Drew, Boston will fire back with three tampering charges of their own, a source told the Boston Herald.
One involves alleged attempts by Dodgers manager Grady Little and bench coach Dave Jauss -- both of whom used to work for the Red Sox -- to contact Manny Ramirez. The other two pertain to the Dodgers supposedly contacting two Red Sox front office employees about potential jobs without seeking permission from the team. "There’s a lot of animosity between the organizations right now for a lot of reasons," the source told the Herald.
