What the hell? He is young and the change of scenary could help. He won 14 games last year and is usually good for 200+ innings. Yeah, he lost 16 games, but someone had to lose them. Yeah, he threw up 35 meatball pitches, but the keen eye of Rothschild will correct that flaw. His walks are relatively somewhat under control. I also think that he is young enough to still be molded into a positive contributor.

Ok, Ok, so the Rothschild comment was a little far-fetched, buy I am trying to be positive here. I am under the hope and impression that he was being held back by Dusty and his best days as pitching coach are ahead! Only time will tell...

A pitcher and an outfielder to go and this team is set except for a little tweaking here and there. :)

If they do sign him, I hope for the best.

I wont be expecting much though.

If they do sign him it would be a positive addition, but honestly I would rather see one of our young arms get a chance then spend 10 mil/year on an average pitcher.

They will get a chance. They can fight for the fifth spot with Miller and Prior. If they are good enough, they will definitely get their chance.

Comparing him to Suppan (who you could get for the same price), why would you want Marquis over Suppan? Suppan is much more consistent and durable. His stats are much better than Marquis' and he just goes about his business and gets it done. I don't really like Marquis' demeanor. Reminds me of Matt Morris, who I hate with a passion. To each his own, I just hope we get Suppan and not Marquis. :)

I am cool with either, but I am going for Marquis because he is younger and I have a feeling about him...

...that might just be gas, though...

I also hear more about him than I do about Suppan which makes me think they are leaning towards Marquis...

Yeah, I'm hearing more about him too. Just wondering why we aren't going harder after Suppan when he is the better pitcher.

Well, they have worked out with Marquis and maybe they really liked what they saw. Who really knows? It doesn't seem like they are getting any better of a deal for him. We'll all have to wait and see.

OMG no. The most he should get is a spring training invite. If Mazzone and Duncan couldnt fix him, what makes you think Larry could?

He'd be better served as a bench player and a pinch hitter cause if there is one thing he can do is MASH!

I think Rothschild can "fix" him because it is no secret that Marquis and Duncan did NOT get along. And according to reports, Rothschild and Marquis "hit it off" when Marquis worked out for Rothschild last week. Good Karma. I'm also not sure what's too broken if he can win 13-15 games for us.

exactly, its not like he's coming from a poor team] with a bad Pitching Coach. Duncan, sorry to say, is one of the best in the NL.
Rothschild isn't a miracle-worker...

did anyone else read the article (Sun-Times?) where the author stated that Marquis will get $10mill/season?..lol
