View Full Version : When will the Edmonds 'experiment' end??

Bockstock

Edmonds in May 190/261/190
Reed Johnson in May 200/284/369

Felix obviously can't cut it compared to these stalworths. Reed Johnson is actually outperforming Edmonds against RHP

I guess people will be calling for Lofton over Pie, but the outfield defense would be downgraded tremendously, plus Lofton will probably have to minor league it for a couple of weeks before he is in shape.

Not soon enough...

How was the crowds reaction when he hit his homer? -- obviously they cheered, but I mean was it different in any way?

Edmunds broke out today. I feel he is the player of the game

2-4 3 RBIs.... looks like he is coming around. He has earned more time in my book

Edmonds broke out in a big way. Maybe he has finally got his swing back. This would be a great game pull out, and a huge confidence booster.

Go Cubs Go!!!

He had a great game today, outside of the gaff in CF, of which id really like to get a better angle look at, when it happend i was in the middle of a sale, so if you could tell me what happened id appreciate it.

One problem for Edmonds with his great day is that Hoffpauir had a great day. At the form both of them are on, when Ward comes back, Hoffpauir is gonna stay and Edmonds is gonna leave.

i was listening on the radio and missed it... but it upset me when I heard he made the mistake in the field

I think that Edmonds was expecting Soriano to make the catch. Edmonds had alot of ground to cover on that play, and Soriano is very skiddish out there. But it is the centerfielders responsibility to be the quarterback in the outfield.

I was reading 'From the Cubicle' on the Trib's site, they made it sound like the ball Edmonds botched, should have been Soriano's. Still, he did drop it. Here's a link (http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cubicle/cs-080530-chicago-cubs-colorado-rockies-cubicle,1,4408814.column). The play happened in the 3rd.

With today's performance, it looks like Edmonds bought some more time on the Cubs roster.

I hope he can do this every once in a while, because thats all Lou wants (A power left handed hitter).

Well, it is about freaking time.

Everyone is entitled to a good game, this just happened to be Edmonds' breakout game for the Cubs.

I still say ship him out... because he will strike out 3 times the next game.

Edmonds was outstanding today hopefully, he can keep it going. As far as Ward is concerned if Hoffpauir and Edmonds keep performing he is the odd man out. True cub fans support anybody wearing our uniform as long as that player helps us obtain the ultimate goal of winning a World Series.

Ward will be back when he is ready and Hoffpower will sadly be sent back

I just read where Edmonds said he has been working with Gerald Perry and Perry pointed out that he needed to open his stance a little more (like he did in his Cardinal days) and it seemed to work today...let's hope it continues.

Are you sure that the cubs would want to do that??

Micha's from has been much more impressive than Edmonds's

Reed Johnson has shown that he is a good fielder, and Lou is even talking about putting Fuku in center. With all that, do you really think that the Cubs are gonna chose Edmonds over Hoffpaiur

I dont think Lou will take Fuku out of right. He may play a few games there, but its like Sheffield and Waveland said the other day Fuku wants to play RF.

Yes I am. Micha cannot play CF. Edmunds, who is improving and is a better glove then Johnson, can play CF. Yesterday Lou changed his mind on putting Fuku in center because he has been so great in RF. It was in the paper. If and when the Edmunds experiment ends, it will be because they found a better left handed CF. Micha is a really good bat, but he is basically a younger Ward. If we keep Micha, it will be at Wards expense.

After the comeback game , Edmonds is O.K. in my book as a CUB. His contribution is well noted.

one out triple for Edmunds... he was stranded there... but his bat is looking like its coming around..... if he is to strike out 3 times still today, it means the Cubs are scoring. And that he went 1-4, which is still better then what he has been hitting before he got here.

Whats it gonna take for you to say he can stay?

he is earning more playing time. He has been playing really well the past few games

At this point I hope he remains a Cub for a while; he's 6-14 in his last 4 games (.429): he's hot. I would really like him to hang around long enough to see him in action against a certain Missouri team. I really want to see that.

Wrigley went NUTS today after he hit that triple.....then when he hit the double.... and then when he came up to bat. He has "earned his stripes" in the eyes of the Cub fans that were there today! YES!!!! I CHEERED MY REAR END OFF FOR MR. EDMONDS!

The way Jim Edmonds has played in his couple of games show me he wants to stay. Now if he can keep it going than I say "Keep Him". When they first got him and the way he started out things were not looking so good but this weekend he made solid contact. And appears to have a good approach at the plate.

Edmonds went to hitting coach Perry, asked him what he was doing wrong, Edmonds at one time changed his batting stance when ST. Louis built the new stadium , Perry told him to go to his old stance and not press as much, and it is working very well for him. Lets face it, with the experience that Edmonds has in the playoffs and the WS, I think we are a better team with him as a CUB.

Don't feel bad Bockstock it is still a valid thread , just look at it as how long will he stay healthy . If he makes it to the end of the season , I will be surprised .

If he keeps hitting and is almost as good as he was in St. Loius he will be very helpfull .

He needs to tear it up an ENTIRE MONTH for me even to consider wanting him to stick around.

How are Cardinals fans taking Jimmy Ballgame's starting to show a little production for the Cubs?

The ones I have talked to are mad as hell , well madder than usual . They love Ballgame and are upside down about him being here .

so you Jason, can you at least give him credit for being a key part of winning the last two games he played in?
