I am cautiously optimistic. We still have needs. They have the potential to be a really good team in the making. Then again, I said that last year

I have made a prediction for 98 wins, and I'm sticking to it.

Sorry Neifi. The thread you created before said Pettitte went to the Astros (not true), but there was also another thread about this before yours, so I deleted yours. No hard feelings. Thanks for keeping us up to date though. ;)

My thoughts exactly, we have the potential to make alot of noise this year but I'm affraid to make a guess at how many wins we will have.

Don't worry guys. You can't jynx anything and make things any worse than what we have gone through already as Cubs fans.

I am thinking dat the Chicago Cubs will go 161-1 next year. Of course, that is, if Mr. Lou Piniella hires a certain man to be da third base coach. Da man who would be waving runners around the third base bag would be none other than a certain man by the name of Ditka. With Coach Ditka, the Cubs would most assuredly win all of their games. I am going to say that the Cubs might lose one time because Da Coach might have to miss one game due to strained vocal cords from singing da National Anthem during one of the seventh inning stretches. Ditka has got to be the best 7th inning stretch singer in the history of Cubdom. Whose da best team in da National League? DA CUBS! With Ditka, they will be unstoppable.:D

in my experience when you say things cant get any worse, thats when they do. I dont want to make any predictions either.

Assuming everyone stays healthy here are three possibilities:
1. If we aquire another starting pitcher and a good defensive centerfielder (or Jones improves his throwing) 95-67.
2. If the season were to start today, 85-77.
3. If Prior and Miller are healthy and return to form, 105-57.
