The Chicago Tribune indicates that it's a "strong possibility" Cliff Floyd will join the Cubs.
The A's and Mariners are also showing interest in Floyd. If he joins the Cubs, he'll likely become the left fielder against right-handers, forcing Matt Murton into a platoon role unless Jacque Jones is traded.

I got this from rotoworld.

I don't like this at all because Murton needs to be playing everyday. I think this will prohibit Murton from putting up the numbers that he is capable of. IMO not a good idea to have Murton on the bench that much.

I really don't feel too strongly either way about Cliff Floyd. If he's healthy, I think it could be a solid move, but if not... oh well. What is some of the current speculation on where we might trade Jones and for whom? I guess, if Jones gets traded for pitching, then signing Floyd and keeping him healthy would be much more important.

I've seen a few rumors about Jones. Going to Colorado, and even going to Baltimore.
I'm not so sure he'll be moved anymore.

Floyd is a good option as a backup. He can platoon in the OF. I'd rather see Murton getting more time. Signing him gives the team a lot more flexability. Would be a good move.

Im guessing that Darryl Ward will be the primary left handed pinch hitter off the bench and that Floyd will be there to give the outfielders a day off.
If he signs with the Cubs, I dont see him getting much playing time at all unless Murton is having a disaster of a season or somebody gets hurt.
Makes you wonder why he would come here then if hes not gonna get much action.
