We had the lead cut to 4-3 and Lou brings in Ascaino. He had Marmol ready. I know he only gave up 2 hits- 1 bloop and a bunt which was an error- but its July and we are 2.5 games up . Its not September and we are 15 back. Ascaino was pitching in AAA last week. So the first 2 guys reach and he brings in Marmol. If he is going to use Marmol at all, why not start him in the inning. He brings in Marmol with men on 1st and 3rd expecting strike outs. 3 pitches later- BOOM, OUTTA HERE- Ball game, only to watch Carlos' confidence to go further in the hole. We had Lieber and Howry also- but he chose to go with the rookie. Oh well, it was get away day.

Lou, Larry, and Carlos are going to sit down today and watch film to see if Marmol is tipping his pitches. Until they figure it out, I don't see Marmol on the mound in any sort of tight situations.

They put him in those tight situation because thats where he always was the best.

This all started a while ago, and not in the Tampa series. It started his his going to a 2-0 count every at bat. Sure he still got out of it and looked like the Marmol we all know and love, But then that Tampa series came, and he started hitting batters and walking them. Then came the giving up HRs every outting.

I dont think he is tipping pitches, because they would have caught that when they were watching tape to fix his mechanics and falling off the mound to the one side.

He is either injured and is taking the Big Z road saying he isnt, he was a flash in the pan, or he has followed Rich Hill, Dontrell Willis, Rick Ankel and many others down the path of losing it in the blink of an eye

Dont forget he wasnt always a pitcher. He couldnt hit worth shyt as a catcher, so they made him a RP because he had a great arm. He is still learning his position. Still learning "arm pain" and "arm fatigue". Hopefully he can figure it all out because he is one of the most important keys to this team, and we cant afford to lose him.... though I fear we already have
