I am an ardent and passionate Red Sox fan but was invited to join this board and gladly took advantage of it. Perhaps it is because the Cubs and Red Sox share so much similar history----near misses, heartbreak losses, long suffering fans, rabid rooters and a classic ballpark to play in. We almost had our WS in 2003 and maybe we will have one down the road, perhaps within the next few years. I am not a Cubs fan but I do watch them on TV and usually pull for them to win. They are one of the very few teams that I really like because of their ballpark, fans and history. Hopefully I can add something positive to this board.
I live in Arcadia, California, am a four year+ retired teacher and coach and am 66 year old, a old war horse if you will. My loves besides baseball are golf, belly boarding, reading, and politics. Good to be on board.

Welcome aboard. We're glad to have you. There is something very endearing about the Cubs- lets not call them loveable losers though. WGN has shared our joy for all. No matter what park I've been to, it always seems like there is almost 50% Cub fans.
Will Manny stay in Boston? your thoughts on JD Drew? I like belly dancing too

Hi Fred I feel the same way about the Red Sox, I'm not a fan but when I watch I like to see them win (unless its agianst the Cubs). I really don't like the Yankees so I have somthing in comon with bosox nation. Oh yeah thanks for Matt Murton!!:)

Yea, I'm the same. I wouldn't call myself a Red Sox fan, but I do cheer for them, and if I ever go to Boston I definetly want to go see a game at Fenway. My brother said that we should both go there once, he spent a few days there and said it's real nice.

Hey dude!
Most Red Sox fans have a place in their heart for Cubs and their fans. They can understand the long suffering and misery. But now we are all alone in our misery. LOL

I wouldn't call myself a Boston fan either, but I do have a Red Sox shirt I wear.

I'd also like to welcome the Chaud to the board. Of course, the 2003 World Series would have been the perfect match up if both our teams held our leads with five outs to go. Two cursed teams going head-to-head in what would have been a ratings bonanza for FOX. Alas, both had their accursedness rear its ugly head and the opposite match up happened. Still, it's nice to see that your curse is over. Now it's our turn.

Hey! Welcome aboard!
Cant call myself a red sox fan by any stretch but i was certainly pulling for them in the WS back in 04. And I always want them to beat the dark side (yankees and white sox).

Welcome to the board! I love watching the Red Sox too. Expecially in 2004 when they came back and won the ALCS against the Spankee's. I never was so glad to see them win. Now we wait for our turn to punch our curse in the mouth!

welcome to the board. I have been pulling for the Red Sox since they faced the Mets. That ball going through Buckners legs is one I will never forget. Unfortunately, we3 had to witness a similar play when Leon Durham let a ball go through his legs in San Diego, that dearly cost us a chance to go play the Tigers in 84. well enough of that, enjoy the conversations here.
