Right at the end of the 10 o'clock SportsCenter, they talked about a huge brawl between the Peoria Chiefs and the Dayton Dragons (Reds affiliate). First, two coaches were jawing at each other (I don't think Ryno was involved in the argument.) Then one of the Chief's players threw a ball at the Dragons' dugout, but it sailed into the stands and hit a woman. Both teams' dugouts emptied and chaos insued. At first, 17 players combined were thrown out, but then reinstated so they could finish the game. If Heather can get a link to the story from the Peoria paper, we can get all the details. I know the guy who threw the ball is facing felony assault charges. I wonder how many suspensions Minor League Baseball or the Midwest League will levy on the 17 players initially booted.

I found a link on the Midwest League website (http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080724&content_id=437052&vkey=news_l118&fext=.jsp&sid=l118).

This one shows a good shot of the guy throwing the ball into the stands.

This one is a bit longer and from a different angle. Some salty language.

Sandberg was in Cooperstown yesterday, he wasn't even at the park.

Sure he was delighted when he heard about this lol

The question has to be asked though, do we want a pitcher who aims and misses a target off about 30 feet long????? (The Dugout), not much of a future if he can't hit that big a target from around 5 yards.

There were 15 players and both managers ejected from the game. The game was delayed by an hour while the two teams were in contact with the MiLB Commissioners office and the Home Clubs because in order to have completed the game (which was only in the first inning) they would have had to use pitchers as position players. Neither the Cubs nor Reds wanted that to happen, so they had an emergency teleconference with the commissioner who agreed to lift the suspensions for the rest of the game, but will review the tapes and hand down suspensions and fines. I am thinking Castillo's baseball career is probably over....

Heck, Castillo could be deported after a stay in jail.

Castillo was arraigned by video from the Montgomery County jail on Friday and ordered held on bond. Dayton Municipal Judge Carl Henderson also required Castillo, who is from the Dominican Republic, to give up his passport.

If convicted, Castillo would face up to eight years in prison and a $15,000 fine.

Dressed in jail blues, he stood with his arms folded behind his back and showed little emotion. He was flanked by his attorney and an interpreter. Castillo said he has been in the United States for a month and has been living with teammates in Peoria.

I really don't think we'll see Sandberg managing in the big leagues any time soon.
